    3. Raymond, My Weeks(or Weekes) line comes from Sixpenny Handley, in Dorset in the UK. My ancestors Richard Weeks and his wife Mary Ann (nee. Bradley) sailed to Australia in 1837. As far as I can tell there have been no ancestors who went to the US. 3. Hi Raymond I'll keep a look out. now live in Salisbury but have a lot of links with the Erlestoke (but not WEEKS) and am often searching the parish records. If I come across any WEEKS in Lavington I'll let you know. I was brought up in Potterne and know the area around about very well regards Nigel ----- Original Message ----- From: <ZENXAN@aol.com> To: <WEEKS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, June 06, 2003 7:38 PM Subject: Weeks in the UK > Thanks everyone for your responses to my query. 2. Thanks everyone for your responses to my query. I just wondered if there was anyone interested in the name outside of the US. My search starts with Ellen WEEKS born 1861 in Little Cheverell. She married James BLAKE who was born in Avebury abt 1859. My link is through the Blake family. Ellen's parents were William WEEKS b.1828 in Market Lavington and Sarah ? b.1835 in Little Cheverell. They appear to have had 5 other children after Ellen and I would dearly love to find out what happened to them. I have nothing on this line prior to that. To you Nigel, I have not found a connection with Tilshead and Potterne but they are both very close to Lavington. I visited there last year and even managed a trip to the 'lost' village of Imber; most interesting as it is not on any map now I believe. I would welcome any observations. I am relieved to know that the Weeks tribe is worldwide. thanks again Raymond

    3. Hi Raymond, yes I have Weeks interest in Wiltshire, not from Market Lavington though, but Downton which is south of Salisbury. My 5th gr grandfather came from Wiltshire, not sure where, possibly Downton, then one of his sons', son, then moved to Hampshire. It's about time the Weeks list moved back to the UK where they mostly came from!! I don't think I have any connections in the US at this stage. 3. Hi Raymond My WEEKS are from Wiltshire, Originally Durrington and possibly earlier Tilshead. My earliest definite WEEKS is Thomas d 1820 in Durrington. He was probably the son of William & Ellinor WEEKS. if so he was b abt 1743 in Tilshead. They had at least 4 sons John b abt 1741, Thomas, James b abt 1752 & William who died in 1762. They may have had other children elsewhere. In wiltshire there seem to be a number of WEEKS families that are probably unrelated, 1 in the Downton, south Salisbury area, 1 in the Durrington, Amesbury area and at least 1 from the Calne area. My father was born in Potterne and their appears to have been some Farmer's called WEEKS in potterne earlier but I do not think they are linked. I have details of a lot of WEEKS from the Durrington line. If you have any connection let me know regards Nigel ----- Original Message ----- From: <ZENXAN@aol.com> To: <WEEKS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, June 04, 2003 10:41 PM Subject: Weeks in the UK > Does anyone have any interest at all in Weeks in the UK?. 3. I spent 4 years in the UK, noted the many Weeks/weekes/ etc in the cemetaries. I am a Weeks and have traced my lineage to 1798 (my great great grandfather) in Beaufort NC. I know the English were in North Carolina from 1583 or so...I have tried, so far unsuccessfully, to make the jump from the US to the UK...where I am certain I have ancestors. But.....so far only back to 1798. I think I need to get back at least one or two more generations to get the clue I need. By the way, I was at RAF Lakenheath in East Anglia... ----- Original Message ----- From: <ZENXAN@aol.com> To: <WEEKS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Mittwoch, 4. 3. I have Weeks family history in VA. Joseph Weeks (b. abt. 1660-1670, m.Sara Blagdon and Mary Pope) known to be in VA in 1790 but do not know when he may have arrived in the US. If in deed he is the first of his family to be in the US. We think he had English ties because when they lived in Westmoreland Co., VA they had neighbors who were English. You comments please. 3. I'm new to this list, but I have a suggestion: I've found that on other surname lists it is easier to put a name, place name, date, etc. in the subject line. Even if you put NY; NJ; UKN; anywhere! that is better than what I've been seeing. I understand that there is a line of interest to the original subject with the "Inside/Outside" title, but I'm finding myself losing interest in opening each email. My problem, of course, and no one need change for my benefit. Only a suggestion, so that each email is clarified. You may find it more useful to have more info on the subject line when referring back to old emails.
