Bonnie, How would I get in contact with Rev Robert Weeks? Still searching for info on my Philip Benjamin WEEKS b. 1839 who married Josephine MILLER b. 1839 St Bart's Parrish, Colleton Co., SC. Children: David Soloman WEEKS. Josephine MILLER is somehow related to the proprietor's of Miller's Indian School of Colleton Co., SC. I think the school was created by the Miller (Indian) family for their children and others. I have also found old photos with the spelling of WEAKS. Hello...Do you have a Tolliver Weeks? He was born in 1816 in South Carolina. His wife was Matilda Cotney. Born in 1817 in South Carolina. I am a direct descendent of their son, Silas Martin Weeks. Silas Martin Weeks was born in 1850 in Tallapoosie County, Alababa. His wife was Martha May Busby Arnold. She was born in Coosie County, Alabama. They married September 141865 and moved to East Texas. Thanks, Aquilla AD64024@aol.com
Hello, Cherree, Sorry, I don't have any answers for you, but I do have an interesting coincidence. My "brickwall" is at Benjamin Sharp Weeks,. b.1809, BurkeCoGA and lived most of his life in Jefferson Co. Jefferson Co US Census of 1880, states his father b.VA, mother b.NC. I have done extensive searching with no real success so far on his ancestry. Several Weeks families are in GA in18-19th century, also several in MS, so you may find something there soon. By the way, we have a Weeks Surname Study Group, formed to utilize the Y-DNA science for Weeks males, to help us in our genealogical research. So far, in the first two months, we have identified two definite and distinct ancestral lines with several living descendants, who each have a common ancestor probably in colonial NC or VA. Do you have a Weeks male relative, father, brother, nephew, etc. who might be interested in participating in this active study? Good hunting and best wishes, Brinson Weeks. Hello, Aquilla, Sorry, I do not have a Tolliver Weeks in my line. I have seen that name, in various spelling variations, in several trees and/or websites as I have searched for my own ancestors in GA, SC, NC and VA. So you should be able to get some positive responses or info on your ancestor through one of those sources. You may be interested to know that another Weeks/Sanders marriage gave rise to a large descendancy in western Louisiana and east Texas. Daniel Sanders married Tamar Weeks, both of Carteret county, and moved to Vernon Parish, La., in about 1820 and many of their descendants eventually crossed the Sabine River to become Texans. Hi Alice. I've checked the web site you suggested and the notes I have and I see pretty much where we've both come from and where we parted company. At this point I have --- Richard Wickes (or weeks)---Jane ___ William Weeks---------------___ William weeks, Jr.-----------Mercy Robinson Benjamin Weeks------------ Mary Chase Then your line descends from their son Jabez and my line from Jabez's brother Archelaus. That continues on down to Amanda Weeks, born 1824, I think in Edgecomb County, NC. Between Benjamin and Amanda though I think there may be some soft spots in the data. At least I've seen inconsistencies in various web sites. Thanks for your message. ----- Original Message ----- From: Bruce1013@aol.com<mailto:Bruce1013@aol.com> To: WEEKS-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:WEEKS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 01, 2005 10:32 AM Subject: NC Weeks family My line of the Weeks family is through Benjamin Weeks of NC and most of the various lines from him were in NC for quite a while. In about 1885, John F Weekes moved from Ontario in Canada to Butte, Montana. He was a printer by trade. He died there in 1888, leaving behind a wife and four young children. We believe they stayed in that area. We'd be grateful if anyone can provide us with leads to their destinies or to surviving descendants. Thanks for your help. (We have a website with the every-growing story of the descendants of Joseph and Jane Weekes who came to Canada from Ireland in 1839, if it might be of value to anyone researching connected families: weekesfamily.org )
