Hi, I am looking for information on Elijah Weeks. He moved to the Samaria, Mi area in the early to mid 1800's. He moved to this area with relatives with the last name Monell. Any help would be appreciated. He was supposed to be born in Newburgh, NY in 1826. Cathy J. Ayers May the Lord Watch between me and thee while we are absent one from the other.
Hi Alice. I haven't got anywhere near that far back yet. I am still wandering round in the 18th and 19th centuries in Sussex and Kent both in England. Are any of your ancestors from thoses counties? Hi Rona, My Weeks are supposedly from Invernesshire, Scotland, but I can't find the connection. My ancestor, Andrew Weeks, b abt 1753, emigrated to America along with his 2 older brothers, Bisset/Bizet and Zechariah abt 1773, supposedly from Invernesshire. So far, I've been unable to find my Weeks in the UK, but keep hoping to find someone who might be connected. I've been told that Weeks is not a Scottish name, but my Weeks are supposed to be Scottish, which seems possible due to the Bisset name appearing a number of times. I met a Scottish man at a nearby Highland Games several years ago, who told me that there are areas of Scotland where Weeks can be found. I'd enjoy hearing from you whether you are connected or not. Hello Rona, Sorry, I don't exactly fit, not really sure yet the area of my Weeks line origin in the UK. But I do have a number of lines from Dad's maternal lines in Kent, Sussex, Essex, London, West Country and Nottingham as well as other parts of England, Scotland and Ireland. I lived in Farnborough working for about 3 years in the 90s and was able to do a little gen digging, but not as much as I had hoped. About a year ago, I started a Weeks Surname Study Group at FamilyTreeDNA com, using Y-DNA analysis to help in our gen research. Currently we have about 20 members of the group who have done their tests, but have only USA and Canada members at this point. We would certainly welcome any Weeks/Weekes/Wicks males in the UK into our group with enthusiasm, as all of our members suspect or trace their paper gen to different parts of the UK. I have found a new cousin with a 25/25 match on our Y-DNA markers, so we know that we have a common ancestor within about 400 years. And my "deep ancestry" indicates northwestern Europe, so probably Vikings!!!! Anyone interested can contact me for the information needed. Thanks and Best wishes, Brinson Weeks. rona benson <rona_benson@yahoo.co.uk> wrote: Looking for anyone who is researching Weeks families in Kent, United Kingdom. I have a lot of information to share. Thanks for your answer. The Jesse Hunt Weeks I am looking for was born about 1790 in Oyster Bay, NY m. Mariann Francis 2 Aug 1842, Euclia, Cuyahoga, OH she died 1848 in Ohio Issue: Seneca Charles, Samuel Tyler, John F. and Harriett Dorinda m. Sarah Steel 5 Jul 1850 Cleveland, OH Issue: Sophia, William, Rachel and Robert I think he died about 1860 but can't find where. They lived in Waypaca, WI but can find no trace of his burial there. After he died the family moved to Nevada I found a book on the WEEKS family on Oyster Bay and there was one Weeks who married a HUNT woman. This may explain the middle name of Jesse Hunt Weeks.
