Surnames: Wix, Wicks, Weeks, Sparks+ Bishop & Barnett Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/5hVBAIB/1438 Message Board Post: Hello Bishops, Wix, Wicks, Weeks Researchers, I’m looking for my Wix/Wicks/Weeks ancestors and need your help! In Union County, South Carolina, in the 1850 Census I found the following: Milly Wix, age 15, living with Absolom & Rebecca Bishop – no others are living with this older couple; John Wix, age 16, living with the Elmore Bishop family; Nancy A. Wix, age 17, living with the Marshal Barnett family. What is the connection of these children to the Bishops? I’m assuming they were siblings; were they orphans taken in or assigned by the court, older children jobbed out to these families, or related to them in some way? Emillie "Millie" Louisa Wicks (Wix, Weeks) is my GG Grandmother who married Elisha Marion Sparks (son of Lloyd Sparks and Rebecca Berry of Union Co.), about 1853, in Union Co., SC (?). The family moved to Henderson Co. TN, then to Shelby Co., TX, after the Civil War where they lived out their lives. I have not been able to determine who her parents were however it appears from the 1840 Census that Jeremiah Weeks or E. Weeks are possible parent families Any help, pointers, suggestions are appreciated. Tommie J Clayton
I am trying to find the father of my 4 Great Grandfather, Samuel J. Weeks, who was born in 1770 in Perquimen's Co., NC and died in 1845 in Salem, Franklin Co., TN. He was in Baldwin Co., GA by 1790, married Anne Jackson in Green Co., GA on 5 Sep 1788, and by 1804 he had moved to Putnam Co., GA. It appears that he had moved to Franklin Co., TN by 1817. On the 1840 Census in Franklin Co., TN he lived in the Pond and Mountain District. He had the following children: John 1789 Putnam Co., GA; Jeptha 1790 Milledgeville, Baldwin Co., GA; Margaret 1790; Peter Holder 1793 Putnam Co., GA; Sarah K. "Sally" 1796 Putnam Co., GA; Rev. Wiley S. 1798 Jefferson Co., GA; Mary 1800 Putnam Co., GA; James Monroe 1801 TN; Samuel Bysa 1804 Putnam Co., GA; and William Benjamin 1805 NC?. He also married the Patsy Noah and Levina Chasteen in TN in the 1840's. His will, recorded in Franklin Co., TN in 1845, was contested by three of his sons (Peter, Jeptha, and Samuel) who had moved to Alabama ! and Mississippi and that case was settled in 1849. His son John (my ancestor) had already died in 1839. His father may have been named William. I would like very much to find other Weeks researchers who had Weeks in GA, TN, and Perquimen's Co., NC that may have a connection to these folks. I am a participant in the Weeks DNA Program. Thanks very much and good luck with your search! J.D. Weeks _____________________________________________________________________ J.D.
