Hello everyone - I am a descendant of William Webb of Bath Maine. His son John Webb was the father of my great grandfather, John T. Webb. John T. Webb's daughter Maude (of his second marriage to Marguerite Richards) was my mother's mother. I am 99% sure of the above connections back to William Webb of Bath Maine. In trying to find out definitive information on William Webb of Bath's parents, I have been looking at the wills of William Webb, who died in Boston in 1760, and the administration of the estate of John Webb, who died in 1779 in Boston. William who died in 1760 is the one who mentions his brother David of Wethersfield, his father David, his brothers William and John, and his nephew Miriam Rust. William left 3/4 of the residue of his estate to his brother John, after providing some funds for his (William's)father David, brother David, his niece, Miriam Rust, and his housekeeper, Joanna Rust. John Webb and Enoch Rust were co-executors. It looks to me like some of the items from William Webb's estate in 1760 are the same items that appear in John's Webb's estate in 1779, such as specific ships, specific pieces of furniture, etc., leading me to think that this John Webb may have been William's brother. The estate of John Webb was administered by William Webb of Bath, Maine after John's wife Sarah died. In books on the Driver Genealogy and on the History of Salem, the authors conclude that this John Webb, married to Sarah, was John Webb, son of John Webb, son of Captain Daniel Webb of Salem. Daniel Webb's parents seem to be not known. Thus it would seem that John Webb, of Salem and Boston who died in 1779, could have been related to William Webb, who died in Boston in 1760, and thus related to David of Wethersfield. In looking for David's in this family, there was a David, son of Captain Daniel Webb, who married Elizabeth Roach on October 16, 1717. This David would thus be a brother of the John who was probably the father of John who died in 1779 and who may have inherited some of the estate of William Webb. Thus he might possibly be David, father of David of Wethersfield. David's birthdate of 1717 could fit with the marriage of David and Elizabeth in 1717. This idea does not quite fit with William Webb's will saying that he has brothers David and John, since this would make either David or John his cousin actually rather than brother. But on the other hand, in his will William also calls Enoch Rust his brother, when it appears that he is actually his brother in law, so perhaps he used the term loosely? At any rate, I think there is a good chance that the families of the Salem, Bath, Boston and Wethersfield Webbs are intertwined. I was not able to find out anything at all further about David Webb of Salem and Elizabeth Roach other than their marriage date, and even for that no source was noted in the History of Salem. But it could be an interesting avenue to pursue. I'm wondering whether any of the list members who are related to David Webb of Wethersfield have looked at or come across any further information on David Webb, married in 1717 in Salem, son of Captain Daniel Webb.
