    3. In case new people don't know, for research in places not near you, try Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness (RAOGK): [email protected] Go to the web site, find the state then county you need help in. Read the brief instructions and go for it. The number of volunteers grows every day, as people realize you learn by helping, and by helping others, you help yourself. I'm a volunteer for my county. I try to give back a little of what so many kind researchers did for me when I first got started. The cost is only reimbursement of copies, postage, etc. I burned up Ron Turner's telephone line, wrote letters, emailed and bought his book, "Webb Families of the Virginias." I've grown a bit in genealogy and now realize he probably flinched each time he saw my name. He was so kind and sharing. There are also the photo sites: Dead Fred, AncientFaces.com (was under construction/don't know if it's back up yet). Enter the name Webb and see who else has posted a photo. I try to put as much leading info in the caption as I can, for family researchers. 3. It would be good to check the "ground rules" if you are considering asking for help. The URL wasn't given by Sue so to save you some looking it's: http://www.raogk.org/faq-requesters.htm Ian Webb -----Original Message----- From: suebod [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, August 04, 2005 8:03 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [WEBB] Research help In case new people don't know, for research in places not near you, try Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness (RAOGK): [email protected] Go to the web site, find the state then county you need help in.
