I have been working with a few people on my Webb line. One of these is Joshua Webb b. 3 jan 1802/1803. In the 1850 census he is listed in Rockrun Township, Stephenson, IL. According to his age of 44, it would make his birth date in 1806. His wife, Mary (Mary Ann Seely) b. 23 Feb 1812 is 37 is closer to the right date. His brother, John R. Webb and family are listed above him on the census. My grandfather, Andrew Jackson Webb, is listed as Joshua's son. Joshua is listed as being born in PA. In the 1880 census, Etna, Hardin, Iowa, Joshua is listed as living with his son Omar (should be Omer) Webb, wife Mary and son Freddy O. His name is spelled Joshaway. Again, it shows his place of birth as PA. and his parents being born in England. I have a copy of a picture taken in 1907 of the brothers still living. They are my grandfather, Andrew Jackson Webb and his brothers, Thomas Seely, Oliver Perry, Omer Hazzard, and Samuel Madison. Joshua's parents are William Webb and Elizabeth Roup according to papers handed down from bible records and hand written notes. Some of these notes sometimes conflict but still lead me to believe William Webb's parents are Samuel Webb and Rebecca Paine. This information has been shared and confirms my belief. My hope is that somewhere out there is a male Webb who is connected to my line who can submit a dna to prove this line. I have also many ancestors who have settled in the Freeport, Stephenson, IL area. The Illinois records department has one of the best research on-line facilities that I have come across.
