IRENE! Have we " talked Cheairs and Webb lately ? Your name does not sound familliar..or maybe I am addled ( anything is possible, I had surgery this week and am not quite back up to par) I descend from Lively Webb, daughter of Sophia Cheairs and Robert Webb. They came to Tennessee c 1820 and the family has been here ever since. (Paris, Henry County, next to Benton County where they setted.. I left here at age 4 and it took me 56 more years to get back, but here I am now!) I believe Robert's first wife was Keziah Cunningham. I have lots of reasons to THINK so and no proof. I have gone around and around and down many wandering paths on Lively Webb. She was named for Lively Rushing who was the wife of her mother's brother Samuel Cheairs, and who was also her (later) husband's aunt., but I believe there is an earlier connection to the Lively Family. It gets more confusing from there. I am convinced that William Rushing's wife Mary was a Mary Lively. That would account for a LOT of things, from odd names like Sherman, Garland and Madison, as well as Lively as a given name for girls that repeats on down the line AND for Mark Rushing whom I believe named for Mark Lively, emigrant / progenator of the Lively Family in America( and at least have proximity fo time and place, MD 1700's where Marys Riesen, who changed it to matthew Rushing, came., ...and many many more otherwise unaccountable naming patterns and kinships. It all goes back to Talbot and Queen Anne County MD and the bunch who migrated from there to Richmond and Anson County c 1770 and founded Cartledge Creek Baptist Church, and settled near one another. Thomas, Collins, Cunningham, and sure enough Robert Webb was a member. Coming down Robin Rushing's line, finding all his sibs but one married either Herrins or Deasons, then backing up, find Cunninghams up THEIR lines... family chart looks like macrame'.. few choices in a new area but to marry one another over and over again! I have Cheairs back to 1666 with all the connections in this country and back to France in 1625 , thanks to Dr Nathaniel Hughes who wrote " The Cheiars index" . We are missing maiden names of 2 wives up the Chearis line , and would not be surprised to find overlap in these families there, too. Benjamin Jackson was father of Jemima Jackson ( Robert Rushing 's wife) and her mother was Mary Rushing... sister of both Lively Rushing and Robert Rushing... children of that William Rushing and Mary UNKNOWN ( who is my hunch Mary Lively) NOTHING CONFIRMS ANY OF THIS BUT NOTHING ELSE WOULD EXPLAIN ANY OF IT AND THIS THEORY DOES! Anyone else want to jump in, add to it, or clear any of it up? I am from Lively Webb and Robin ( son of Robert ) Rushing's son John Madison Rushing. The librarian in Camden ( Benton Co.) is a double Rushing cousin, from John's sister Sophia who married her cousin WC Rushing. I am in touch with Bill Gleaves who is from John and Sophia's brother Calvin. I'd like to hear form others and see if we can shake anything loose and where on Earth did pairs of brothers, usually first sons, being named Holden and Calvin start, as both Lively's older brothers AND her husband's brothers and their children are named that.My bet is in the Cunningham connection, but who knows?
