James Webb Deed Book E-1 Page 126, #695 Rutherford County, NC This indenture made this 6th day of October in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty eight between James Webb Senior of the State of South Carolina of the one part & David McDow of the State of North Carolina and the County of Rutherford of the other part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds to be paid James Webb Senior in hand paid by the said David McDow at and before the signing and delivering of these presents the receipt and payment whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold bargained and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien and convey and confirm unto the said David McDow his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract of land containing 150 acres it being a part of a patent granted unto the said James Webb dated the nineth day of August 1727 Situated lying and being in the County aforesaid on Webbs creek on the North side of the 2nd Broad river on both sides of said creek Beginning at a post oak corner William Webbs land thence North 169 poles to a white oak thence east 142 poles to a black oak thence South 169 poles to a stake corner of William Webb's land thence West 142 poles to the beginning with the appurtenances situate lying and being as aforesaid with their and every of their rights members and appurtenances whatsoever & reversions & reminders of all and singular the land tenements hereditaments and premises hereby granted intended to be granted to have and to hold the said land tenements hereditaments and premises hereby grant to the said David Mcdow his heirs and assigns forever to his only proper use & in behalf of the said David Mcdow his heirs and assigns to the said James Webb Senior for himself his heirs Executors and Administrators doth hereby promise covenant and agree that him his Executors & Administrators shall and will at all times warrant and forever defend the said premises to the said David McDow his heirs & assigns against all Lawful claims and demands whatsoever whereby the above mentioned premises might or maybe enfeeoffed or incumbered to the true intent and meaning of these presents; In witness whereof the said James Webb hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written.
