    3. Darlene: I think I wrote to you previously? My name is Sam Webb and my grand mother was also an Ellis. My family located (both Webbs and Ellis) in western Ky from Middle TN. Could your interest lie in these locations? My ggg grand father was John Webb / Martha Patsy Landrum married Jan 15, 1811 in Williamson Co. TN and their son Lewis E. Webb migrated to western Ky in 1854 with his wife Susan Adaline Halstead and Lewis' sister Rebecca Webb Woods and her husband John Woods. On the Ellis side I have them documented back to Owen Ellis 1679-1743 in Prince George County MD. to western KY with William Ellis having 20 children with two Magruder sisters that he had married in the 1929 and 1849. His son Newton Wiley Ellis is my great grandfather and my grandmother is Ona Ellis Rose. If any of this sounds familiar please contact me at samsbqa@bellsouth.net ----- Original Message ----- From: Darlene Ellis <dellis@worldnet.att.net> To: <WEBB-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, July 24, 2001 12:21 PM Subject: Re: [WEBB] Webb Picture Site > Please sign me up. 3. Hi Sam, I think my Webbs, James and Jane Claxton Webb came from Va. They married in Botetourt Co. Va 1784. Now they may have been else where between then and time they settled in Shelby Co. Ky. James was buying land in Jefferson Co. Ky. as early as 1795 and living in Shelby Co. soon afterwards. They had 13 children and I only know of 3 of them. One son, Richard D. Webb moved to Illinois in 1834 and I think that some of his brothers and sisters went also as well as Jane, the mother. The eldest son, James, stayed on in Shelby Co. until he died in 1833 ( my line). I often think with 9 -10 other children, that I can't identify, they might have stayed in Ky. There was a John Webb living in Shelby Co. early 1800's, that was an older man, that might have been related to my James. Maybe a brother?? As far as the Ellis' - my husbands family were in the Spencer and Anderson Counties in later years and I haven't done much researching on them. Recently was in contact with someone researching our family - but I recently lost my hard-drive and lost her name and e-mail and what info. she had sent me. I am trying to rebuild - so hopefully I will run across her again. The only way I have ever be able to truly identify my James Webb is when wife Jane is mentioned. I have never seen anything with a middle name or initial for him - so it's been so very limited. There isn't much info. on our Webbs in Shelby Co. - just land transactions.
