I hope to be able to figure out whose child she was somehow. The Johnson I am searching for is Martha Johnson who married Jesse Harmon. Anything on this one in the VA/WV book? I am trying to find the Indian connection. Thanks again. 3. Only one Harmon and that's an Edmund. No Martha Johnson or anything close. On a Jarrell website (Logan/Boone/Raleigh Counties, WV) I learned a bit of how a small band of the Cherokee "went into the hills" rather than be moved west on the Trail of Tears. Some had left earlier, knowing what was coming; some stayed long after and were sought out by some gov't forces, but some were never found, just eventually integrated via marriage into White society and blood lines. One was a Jarrell who was one of our ancestors, but I think that is too far back or there is more. I'd also sought this out, as my father, his mother and some cousins have/had hair so black it was blue in places, never burned in the sun, had several other features indicating Native American heritage. This Jarrell has a website but it is one I stumbled over in a search engine. Good luck.
