    1. Re: [WEBB] William (W?) Webb in the Spanish American War #2
    2. Sue, (skip down to new stuff!) I sent for some records from the Texas Archives because I thought perhaps some of my Webbs were among them. I ordered all the names that showed up in my family, and William was among those names. What I have is a receipt for pay signed by William Webb (the W. middle initial is taken from a posting on the Webb Forum that says the govt records -- NARA -- have a William W. Webb in the Spanish American War). It gives his rank and company and is dated August 1901. And there is an address (which I am withholding to try to determine who he belongs to -- i.e., if you can tell me, I will believe he is yours <G>). I had hoped this was my William Webb, but he died in 1895, or so we are told, so the 1901 date excludes him. Anne Sue -- Comanche County isn't the address he gives, but it may be the mustering out point. Anyway, it proves he was alive in 1901. If you are positive this is your William, just send me an SASE 8.5x11 so I won't have to fold it. It's a photocopy not an original but it's certified by the Texas State Archives. And I'll take 10 cents in loose postage for the dime I spent on it! Anne
