    2. Is Christopher Webb, who married Mary Bass, Mayflower descendent in this line. I have been looking for more on the Webb just this weekend. Thanks, Jan O'Brien

    3. My recollection is that he is a member of the "other Weymouth" Webb family circa 1700. My parents died 20 years ago still thinking that our Weymouth Webb family included the Webb line where Christopher married Mary Bass. It turned out when I did a fair amount of library work 10 or 15 years ago that there were at least 2 distinct Webb families in Weymouth at that time. At least I never found a connection between them. The prevalence of the same names with children born within a short time of each other made separating them quite difficult and without my computer database I don't know how I would have managed. A great source for information on the two Webb families that were in Weymouth, MA circa 1700 is: "Genealogies of Early Families of Weymouth, Mass." Chamberlain, 1984, Sutro F74 W68 C53 It's been many years since I've done active "in library" work but my recollection is that it was a two volume book from the early 1900s and this is a reprint of the books. The "Sutro" reference is it's cataloging at the California State Genealogy Sutro Library in San Francisco. I was able to check out the book for a week or two when I used it at that time. I would assume it's available for inter library load if you check a good local library they likely can either locate a copy of it or maybe arrange something. The fact that they let me check it out would lead me to believe that they have a second copy of it somewhere or maybe it's on microfilm in case it gets damaged. I found numerous multi-great grandparents and names that I would never have found elsewhere without this volume. I just did a Google Search....sure a lot there compared to when I was actively searching 10 or 15 years ago! I'm not surprised: Genealogies of the Early Families of Weymouth, Mass., George Walter Chamberlain, Genealogical Publishing Co, Baltimore, 1984, Reprint of 1923. Good luck. I'd sure like to find a connection between the two Webb families.
