November 7, 1791, a number of Freeholders in Buckingham County show the General Assembly of Virginia that an inspection of tobacco at the mouth of Bent Creek in this county will be of infinite utility -- it being the most eligible situation on the river between Lynchburg and Warminister with an easy road for the conveyance of produce from the adjacent counties (to wit) Campbell, Prince Edward, Charlotte, and Amherst. The petitioners ask that an act be passed for erecting warehouses at the mouth of Bent Creek on the lands of John Horsley.
