Just located a Land Patent listed in Scott County - Grantees where John Webb and Joseph Gilliam - 80 acres on both sides of Copper Creek Treasury Warrant No. 7787 filed December 3, 1824 - Survey date July 31, 1826 - Land Patent was signed by Wm. B. Giles, Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, October 22, 1827. Land bounded by Jacob Titus, Frederick A. Rops (not sure of that last name), John McJarvis and Mc Ead's line. Other land descriptions mention Black Camp Marsh.
Thanks bunches for this. I think this John Webb is a brother to my William Webb b.abt.1780. Will have to recheck my notes to see when this John Webb moved into Johnson Co.KY. I don't think the move was made till sometime around 1840. We do know for sure that John was in Scott Co.VA,but can't say if he was born there or moved there from somewhere else. Ya know,maybe this could be our lost John Webb,father to William and John! I got info saved on a Gilliam line that comes out of Buckingham Co.VA. Need to check and see if there is mention to a Joseph Gilliam among that info.
