To Whom It May Concern: RE: Ancestry of Augustine Webb - I'M hurt. You left me out!!!! Having worked on the genelogy of my Great, Great, Great Grandfather Augustine Webb for many years, I was pleasantly surprised to find almost his complete history on the internet. Your information is correct up until the marriage of Frances Ann "Franky" Rainbarger to Jacob Ganote. You list that they had only one daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Ganote, who married Isaac Hibbs. I beg to differ. They had two daughters. Mary Jane "Jennie" Ganote was their daughter also. She was born in 1860. She was my Great-Grandmother. My Grandmother remembed her Aunt "Becky" well, but she also remembed her Mom, Mary Jane (whom she was named after), even though Jennie died when my grandmother was about 13. In 1880, Mary Jane Ganote was a servant in the home of Mrs. Elizabeth Thornton (nee Garrett) whose husband, Reuben Thornton, was deceased and who had two sons, William G. and Judson Carne Thornton . They lived in Clermont, , Bullitt County , Kentucky. Jennie married Judson on May 20, 1883. They were married in Bullitt County by Rev. A Mobley, according to the marriange records of Bullitt County. Jennie Ganote and Judson Carne Thornton had 5 children. William, Ballard, Mary Ganote, Elizabeth and Melvina Kate. Lizzie died at an early age. Jennie died Dec. 25, 1895 and is buried in Vine Hill Cemetary in Clermont, Kentucky. In The Kentucky Obituary Register, her death is listed as: Thornton, Mary Jane, Age 40, Died Dec. 25, 1895. Parents: Jacob and Frances Ganote - died in Bullitt County, Kentucky. Mary Ganote Thornton was my Grandmother. She was always proud she was named after her mother. She married William Gwinn Evans and they had 7 children. One of which was my mother, Eudora Thornton Evans. She married my father, Morace Burns and had only one child - me! My name was Willa Louise Burns. My name is now Willa Fougnie. I would be interested in hearing from someone off this same family tree as Augustine. We have become old friends during my research, I even visited where he fought in the battleof the Cowpens and where he had his land grant near Drennon's Lick and The Kentucky River. Your coverage is extensive and well appreciated for all the hard work.Don't know if this means anything to you or not, but I just wanted you to know another line of us exists - through Franky and Jacob's other daughter,Jennie. I have her picture and she was a beautiful red-haired woman who was proud of being part French. The picture is black and white, of course, but my Grandmother told me her Mom (Jennie) was red-headed. My Great-Grandfather (Judson C.Thornton) gave the ground for the cemetary in which she is buried. If someone could bring the Webb Ancestry up to date and include the info I just gave, I would appreciate it. Thank you, Willa L. Fougnie- email - [email protected]
