I attended the 110th Confederate Memorial Day service today at Camp Chase in Columbus, Ohio. It takes place the first Sunday in June. The closest date to the birthday of Jefferson Davis. There are 2260 confederate soldiers buried there. It is a very neat well kept cemetery in an older part of the city. There is only one Webb buried there. To my knowledge he is not one of my Webbs. I do have a non Webb relative buried there though. John Webb was a member of the 63rd Virginia Regiment. Sadly, he died shortly after the war had already ended. There was a reenactment group of soldiers representing Virginia at the ceremonies and they paid tribute to one of their own. They sprinkled earth that had come from Virginia over the grave. The container of earth was said to be a "Dixie Cup". They had an extra cup of Virginia soil and I spread it over John Webbs grave. If any one would like a picture of this Webb or any one else that is buried there I would be happy to oblige. As an extra bonus if you will send me some soil from his home state I will sprinkle it over his grave. The list of soldiers is on the Web. Do a search for Camp Chase, Columbus, OH.
