    2. Egad, Lyell, it just gets weirder and weirder. Family stories say that William Douglas's mother was a "Pepper," and that he used to say "she was a red hot pepper, all right," when describing her temper. Yet at the same time, the same family stories said she was Indian. What I've believed for a long time is that there were several Williams in the line, and that grandfathers, fathers and sons got mixed up in the retelling of the stories. Please send me anything your mother has said, no matter how far-fetched. When I first heard the story about William's father "buying the Indian girl and her mother" I totally discounted it, and now look! A big bingo! What I'll be sending you is a rough draft of the Webb family history I've put together over the past couple of years, which includes reproductions of many, many old Webb photos taken from tintypes - William Dougas Webb himself, and many of his eight children and grandchildren. Plus I've got tons of family stories in there, as well as the usual genealogy stuff. I have to wait until I can get it down to the local quick printer and get it spiral bound for you (it's around 200 pages), but as soon as I do, I'll send it out. I've already included the list of people from the Bible you found online. One more thing: Could you refresh my memory about the "four brothers who went West" and their names. You are from Ohio, right? I've also run into another Webb in Ohio who believes her family originated in either New York or Ohio, and that she was the descendant of one of the four brothers who came from there. I'll have to look up her number and give it to you. By gosh, Lyell, we're cousins! Betty Webb
