It is with regret, but with great honor I post my father's Obituary. Mike Webb (Florida) WILLIAM H. WEBB, JR. Age 80, of Lake Worth, FL passed away peacefully on August 30, 2001, at the Jay Robert Lauer Hospice Unit in the JFK Medical Center. Junior was the first born of the late Mary Frances (Ramey) and William Homer Webb, Sr., in Kayford, WV. Exemplifing the virtues of the greatest generation he enlisted in U.S.M.C. in February, 1942, serving in the First Marine Division during WW II and participating in the assault landing, capture and defense of Guadalcanal until wounded in October, 1942. Upon recovery, he returned to the service to his country in 1943 and participated in the occupation of Finschafen, New Guinea and in the offensive and defensive operations at Cape Gloucester and Talasea, New Britain Island. As a resident of the Lake Worth area and a member of Carpenters Local Union # 130 for over 50 years, he was involved in the construction, supervision, and inspection of numerous local construction projects before becoming the Building Official of the Village of Royal Palm Beach. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jackie Maurice (Lake Worth), Edwin Leon (Medina, Ohio), Bryson Lee (Homestead, FL), and James Melvin (Lorain, Ohio) Webb. Left to cherish his memory, Bill is survived by a loving family including his devoted wife of 55 years, Rose; his children, Mary Rausch of Lake Clarke Shores, Michael Webb of Lake Worth, and Nancy Grunewald (Paul) of Orange Park, FL; grandchildren, Dr. William Rausch, Dr. Sandra Rausch (J.W. Kenton), Stacey, Chris, Jason, Michael, Sharon, and Nicole; and great-grandson, Brandon. He is also survived by his brothers; Robert Milton (Shirley, Sarasota, FL) and Harold Dan (Mary, Milton, WV); sisters, Betty Jo Longacre (Calvin, Ft. Lauderdale) and Wilma Gay Hill (No. Royalton, Ohio); sisters-in-law, Sara Webb (Medina, Ohio) and Lynn Williams (Longwood, FL); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at E. Earl Smith & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Chapel, 1032 No. Dixie Highway, Lake Worth, FL. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery in Lake Worth. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 3rd from 2 until 4 and from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
