    2. Well, Mark, bells with lots of echoes. That makes 7 John Turner Webbs I know of - I swear, I'm going to start collecting them. The last one died about a year ago in Laurinburg, N. C., and I have no idea which branch he was, but here is what I have: My5 greats grandfather was John Webb, and in 1735 he started getting King's Grants in Anson Cnty,, N. C. which later became Richmond. In his will in 1794, he leaves his entire estate to his Grandson, John Turner Webb, and a shilling each to his three sons!!! John Turner Webb (this one) was the child of his son Robert. His son Hendley moved to Edgefield, S.C, where he was in Revolutionary war, and named HIS son John Turner Webb also. Another net cousin from Mississipi has one in her family, also. And there is another one on Genforum whose father was James Webb, and I don't know him, either, but I did know that one who was the grandson of the aforesaid Hendley lived in Clark County, Ala., and there seem to be a lot of Webbs down there. Do you know the names of parents of this John Turner? I night be able to connect you to some of these if you do. Irene Webb Dorsey

    3. Irene -- I know that John's mother's name was Rebecca. I have not been able to find his father, he apparently died before 1860. I have been looking at each of the Webb's in the 1850 SC census, as this is reportedly the place of birth of the last child - Daniel about 1849. Before 1844, the family was in NC. Known children of unknown and Rebecca were -- John Turner b. 1831 Thomas C. b. 1836 Christopher C. b. 1837 Nancy b. 1842 William b. 1843 (married Priscilla in Pike Co., AL by 1870) Mary b. 1844 Daniel b. 1849 Thanks for the info and I'll keep searching the 1850 census. Mark
