William and All, I haven't done any research on my Webb family in North Carolina. My line moved from Northumberland County Virginia about 1785 to southside Virginia, then to Kentucky then to Illinois. I was aware that Sarah Webb had married John Wilkins, and that her birth record as well as that of her siblings had been filed with her Widow's Pension Application. Then when I got the record of the distribution of the estate of William Webb, listing the same children, I knew this was the same family. And the birth dates all coincided with the children still being minor children when William died. I had read an earlier post of yours where you stated you hadn't done much work in Northumberland Co. I thought you would be interested to know that you can probably take your Webb line back to 1647. That is the approximate year of Samuel Webb's birth. Again I don't know if he was born in England or in the Colonies. I hadn't traced William and Winefred Webb's children because I had determined it wasn't my line. But I kept my notes. I will look again to see if I have anything else that might be of help or interest. Two additional records for John: Nld. Record Book 9, p. 46- 10 Aug. 1772 Possesed John Webb, orphan of William Webb, deceased, with his estate in the hands of John Shearman Woodcock. p. 451- 16 July 1774 - John Webb possessed with amount of cash due to his sister Frances Webb, in the hands of William Angell's exors. These records don't mean that John was still living in Northumberland Co. but he was still working on the final settlement of his father's estate. I will check my notes again to see if I have anything else. Have you looked for military service records for John?
