Irene, You are right, However I was reading (yes, I was reading) in parts of things that my cousin had sent to me in "snail mail" that has things about formation of county lands. Wilkes County is the same Wilkes county that is a part of North Carolina. But I don't know how to determine these things now. I do have a webpage that has a list of Georgia and the formations of the counties tho' only in 1820. If this will help you out. You have to know so much about the states when you are doing your research. I feel like I am in school again. I wished I had of listened a little more to my history teacher back then. Then I tell my nine year old the same thing. She listens believe it or not. They are studying the Civil War now and William Penn. This is 4th grade work-can you believe it. And I am listening. (lol). I also have my webb's listed on a webpage and some are Wilkes County, "GEORGIA". Webb's http://www.strictlygenealogyimages.org/pleasantwebb.html I think this is it but if it isn't please let me know. Georgia county Formation is http://www.strictlygenealogyimages.org/gacountyformation.html My info came mostly from the University of Georgia in Athens-Clarke County. Some info came from there but most of it i found on 1820-1865 census. I work there. But it is to scary for me to go on campus any more because of the rapings going on. I don't like to go by myself. they had a real bad one this past week.
