Paige My Elizabeth A. was one of the last of the children of Elias and Mary Ann Webb. The family split up after about 1844 -- Apparently Mary Ann died c. 1840 -- perhaps in childbirth or from complications after. With 1840 Census data the way it is, it's hard to tell, but it looks like she's gone from the household and some older woman is in the household -- not much older, but too old to be Mary Ann and not old enough to be anyone's mother (besides I think Elias and Mary Ann's mothers were both dead by then). Siblings: Britain Rice (spelling varies on Britain -- Britton, Brittain, etc.), George Washington, Elias B., William Henry, James M. and John for the boys. Girls: Matilda Caroline, Lucinda Jane, Mary, Susannah, Julia Ann, Maranda Angeline, Catherine ?. I say Catherine? because Elias B.'s son wrote that Elias and Mary Ann "Nancy" Webb had 13 children and didn't mention Elizabeth. However, the children's births covered 1811-1839, and Elias B. was in the middle and his son was writing the family story in 1895 with the help of Britain Rice's widow. So we have some questions about the exact composition of the family.Of course, one might have died young and Britain's widow and Elias' B.'s son might not have known about her at all. Or Catherine might have been older than Elizabeth and died young and they didn't know about Elizabeth. In 1850, the Census data shows (roughly) the following: Britain is married and in MS. Matilda is married and in TX. George Washington is married and he's already out in CA and his wife is in AL (we find Elias and James and John listed in her household). Elias B. is missing, presumed killed by Indians or Mexicans in TX while on a visit to his sister Matilda. William Henry is married and in Muscogee Co., GA Lucinda Jane is married (Cox) Mary is married (Nobles) and James and John are ALSO listed in HER household (apparently the AL census was taken late as one boy is one year older and the other is shown as 2 years older, but that's another story) Susan is married (Holt) Julia Ann is married to Hasty Maranda Angeline is married (Pike) no sign of either Elizabeth OR Catherine -- no graves located -- no certain birthdates on either. I do have an Elizabeth who married Jordan in 1819 and a Catherine who married Page in 1823. We thought these were Elias's sisters or cousins, but I suppose they could have been his children -- Matilda married about age 13, and apparently Maranda Angeline also married quite young. But I can find no trace of them beyond their marriages. I have nothing relating to Madison Co., GA, but then I don't know Elias's siblings....possible his youngest was given to a sister or sister-in-law to raise. Precious little to try to match up on, eh? What do you think? Anne
