I am writing a summary of the WEBB Bible that was discussed on this list last year called "Bromsgrove WEBBs" for the publication of the Webb One Name Study. I do not yet know what the publication date will be. However, if you are interested, you might wish to visit the Webb One Name Register website. There is a handy link from the WEBB DNA Project home page -- just click on LINKS. And if anyone on this list has a DNA match with Cartleech, Cartledge, Cartlidge, Cartleidge, Cartliche, Cartlodge, Cartlitch, Cartlich, Cartlett, Cartlech, Carthody Please Let me know as soon as possible. It is part of this story! Anne
Just to correct the record--Kit # 14215 belongs to my Uncle and we are under Chesley Webb who is listed under Samuel--but we have no paper trail for him. Does anyone have a copy of his will? He is said to have left land to Webbs in Edgecombe County, NC, and mentions them by name. He was born in New Kent County, VA and died in Orange Co., VA. Thanks for your help, faye hays
Lyell, We've taked before about your Webbs. Besides Samuel, who else moved from Orange County NY to Pennsylvania? Did several of his sons? And I can't remember - but did you take the DNA test? HI List: Looking for any information on WEBBS who would have left Orange Co. New York and moved to Elmira,New York, which is where my Grandfather Charles Webb was born in 1858. My GGrandfather,Samuel Charles Webb, spent several years in Tioga Co. PA. He was a Carpenter in the Coal Mines. His home base would have been Moosic,Lackawanna Co. PA. Lyell
My Sharp family intersects with your Mize. I don't have the fact, but Nancy Julian Mize, must be the sister of Wilson Mize. I have the same parents for him, but no siblings. Wilson Mize married Elender Sharp, my gg-gf's sister. I also have a Sharp-Webb marriage. Another sister of my gg-gf, Mary Sharp, married Elisha Webb Sr. I don't know for sure who his parents are. I have some ideas though. Are you sure about Lafayette. I couldn't find that town in Calhoun County. Lafayette is the county to the north of Calhoun. When Calhoun County was formed it took a section out of Lafayette County. To see what that part was, find a map with county lines marked. If you look at the northern border of Calhoun, you will see it jogs to the north. If you continue the border straight on west, you will mark off the section that used to be Layfayette county. It contains the towns of Sarepta and Banner. Gene At 10:10 PM 5/18/2006, mjam wrote: >Here is my Mississippi Webb relatives... > >RUFUS K. Joe, I have a sister named Merry Ruth Webb, but it was not from a family name. She was named after a maternal grandmother with a twist on the spelling. And no she wasn't a December baby. Our Webbs came from Virginia to Illinois. Do you know of the Webb-Harrold line? Henry Webb and Catherine Harrold were married in Patrick Co Va (in 1812 I think) and ended up in DeWitt Co Illinois by the early 1840. I guess the Harrolds were from North Carolina. I am trying to get my father to do the DNA to see were that leads us. All I know about them is that they had three sons, Cuthbert b. 1816, William b.1819 and Henry Jr. b. 1822(my Line). Henry Jr married Mary Ann Lash b.1825 Ohio on 22 Feb 1844 in DeWitt. It's my belief there may have been another married son that died before getting to Il. I do know they were in Indiana for awhile. After Henry Jr came, Isaac Newton Webb 23 Sep 1847, Ivan Isaac Webb 29 Apr 1897, my father Harry, then myself. Any help with this line would be greatly appreciated. The DNA Participant who had his line documented to John Webb 1694 said that while he believed John Webb 1659 was probably the father, there was insufficient documentation for him to claim that generation. I also don't have any documentation that confirms John Webb 1659 was from Glocestershire, nor of the connections from there back. However, I have not researched it myself and am completely open to there being evidence. If anyone can supply it, I would be happy to acknowledge it. I just haven't seen anyone provide what I consider real documentation. Anne
