I am looking for any information on Sarah or Sarah Jane Yost, b Jan. 9, 1839 that married George Webb, b March 17,1834 in Phila. Pa. George Webb served in the Navy at the time of the Civil War. They Lived most of their lives in the Phila area. Any information on this family would be appreciated. Thank you. John
Hello folks, Can anyone tell me if DNA is in for the John Webb/Sarah Cocke line and the John Webb/Hannah Carter line? If so,did these lines match up? Thank you in advance for any info anyone can give me. Diane
After Joseph Webb's death in Dec 1845, there was a Thomas Webb at the sale of his possessions. I'll have to look up the records, can't put my hand on them tonight. I remember thinking it could have been Thomas Martin Webb, a DNA match to our line ( possibly a son who would have been in his mid teens at the time) or another Thomas Webb, possibly a brother to our Joseph and Hiram Webb. It seems to me he bought cotton and a rifle at that sale. Notes on Thomas Martin Webb identify him as a " buyer of several estate sales." The info on Thomas Martin Webb is thanks to Sherry Jones. Are any of the WEBBS you are talking about from VA? If so are they from Franklin, Floyd, Roanoke or Craig counties in VA? The ones that I know for sure about came from Franklin Co. William Webb and Nancy Anglin. but Montgomery Co. has something to do with them too. Hi List, I am new to the list and searching for the probable father of one of my early ancestors. On 28 Feb 1665 Jeams WEBBE, a young man from London married at New Amsterdam Dutch Reformed Church Margaret RADELL, widow of James Radell. In Court Minutes of New Amsterdam by E.B. O'Callaghan (1653-1674) page 262, James Webb and two others appeared before the court on 24 June 1665 because they "have had no tapsters licence." These two items are all I have found on James Webb in New Amsterdam. Then I find my ancestor, Aeltje Webs, wife of Syrach TITUS baptising a child, Geertje, on 3 April 1698 at Flatbush RDC (Long Island). In this record she is not identified as a Webb, but in a later baptismal record on Staten Island she is called Aeltje Webs. Geertje was her first child, thus we can guess that Aaltje probably was born about 1680. Her husband was bap. 1679. I know there were many Webbs just across Long Island Sound in CT at this time, but don't see a connection. If anyone has any information or even ideas as to who this James Webb could be, I would truly like to hear about it. Phyllis in CA
