    3. Not sure if I answered you before, but there is only one Isaiah Webb listed and he was b.22 Jan 1889, d.1933; s/o David Montage Webb and Joanna (Worrell) Webb, s/o Isaac and Malissa Jane (Martin) Webb. They were from Carroll Co, WV. If I did respond before, I hope I directed you to the Arkansas History Commission in Little Rock, AR. They are the BEST for anything, genealogically, historically, etc. in Arkansas. After 20+ yrs of researching Arkansas, I pretty much use them exclusively now, as if they don't have it, they'll know who will. And they're nice people too. If you know how old he was when he got married, and if you know he was born in AR (which the 1880 or any later census might tell you), then there's a fairly good chance you can find him in 1880, although the travel back and forth, moving back and forth between Washington and Benton Co AR, and the counties of SW Missouri is enough to make the head spin. If he died in Washington Co AR, there are also good sets of Obituary books. Best Regards, Janet Hunter, miles away in Alexandria VA

    3. Well, I think I finally have an answer for someone. Hope it's you. Big clues for me were my area of research: WEBB-KUHN-MARSH FORK-RLAIEGH CO, WV. My dad was born in Dorothy, Raleigh Co, WV & his folks were from Raleigh Co before moving to Boone Co. I know they visited & had kin in Marsh Fork. The names Kuhn & Dickens are in my line as well, so I looked it up in Ron Turner's book, "Webb Families of the Virginias," (always want to give him the credit, I didn't do the original research): (In ascending order, your line would go) Lewis F. Webb, s/o Thomas Webb, s/o Jacob Webb, s/o Giles Webb, s/o Henry Webb, s/o Jacob Webb, s/o James Webb,s/o Giles Webb. p.44. Thomas Webb, son of Jacob and Nancy (Dickens) Webb. Thomas Webb was b.20 Sep 1849, md. 9 Sep 1871 to Celia Coon/Kuhn (b.May 1851, & in these records spelled Coon). Their children are listed as: Jacob Webb Lewis F. Webb, b.27 Jan 1875, md. 22 Nov 1894, Raleigh Co, WV, Perlina Elizabeth Jarrell. Martha Webb King Webb Crocket Webb Flora Belle Webb Nora Webb Pauline Webb p.11 Jacob Webb was the (6th child) & son of Giles Webb and Rachel Horton. Jacob was b.c1821, md.21 May 1840, Fayette Co, VA (WV) to Nancy Dickens, b.c1823, d/o Thomas and Rhoda Dickens. 7 children: Leander Webb (d.Civil War), Susannah Webb, Rebecca Webb, Electia (Matilda?) Webb, Thomas Webb, b.20 Sep 1849, md. Celia Coon, Giles Webb, Paulina/Perlina Webb. (my line decends from Giles & Rachael's son Henry, b.c1826) p.9, 11 Giles Webb, (4th child of Henry & Susannah (Cocke) Webb), b.c1790, md. Rachael Horton p.9 Henry Webb, s/o Jacob & Mary/Mollie (Austin) Webb, b.c1750, came from the Blackwater region of Franklin Co, VA c1780, called Hal, the small red-headed man, also my ancestor, served Rev War. I have records for DAR proof. Hal d.c1845, bd. Thompson Cem, Snake Creek, Carroll Co, unmarked grave. p.9 Jacob Webb . . . is believed to have been a son of Giles Webb (of Gloucester, Eng), of Chuckatuck on the boundary of Nansemond & Isle of Wight Counties . . . but no proof . . . Rev. Isaac Webb Bible holds records as well. Gotcha? (Hope I copied all that down correctly.) 2. My thanks to Mona for sharing this list with me! For those who might not be familiar with the Mexican American War, the timeframe is 1846 - 1848. I recommend a look at the resources at the bottom of the page, if you wish to learn more. There were other WEBBs (apparently didn't live to collect a pension or didn't bother applying) in this conflict. I know many of the WEBBs were from Ohio, Illinois and Indiana, as well as Nebraska. 3. HI Nancy: I have been looking for years for birth and death records of my GGrandfather,Samuel Webb, who I understand was born about 1833 in Orange Co. N.Y.,town of Warwick. He named his two boys by his first marriage Charles and George. With his second marriage he named his children Alanzo,Samuel,Harry,Charles. There was also William,Sylvester,Thomas. Both of Samuel's wives names were Olive. Some information reguarding this Samuel is on the Nile E. Webb site, which was my Father. Samuel spent most of his life in Moosic Pa. Lackawanna Co. He was a Coalminer. If you would happen to fine anything about this person(Samuel Webb),I would appreciate anything you could fine. Reguards Lyell R. 3. I could find no listings in Ron Turner's book, the "Webbs of the Virginias," for these names, but might I suggest, if you haven't tried, the Arkansas History Commission, One Capital Mall, Little Rock, AR 72201, 501-682-6900. They also have a web site. They won't do lookups for you but will answer 1-3 questions per letter if your questions are distinct and explicit. I've worked with them long distance for over 20 yrs and I rate them AAA when it comes to holdings, assistance and kindness. They have ALPHABETICALLY INDEXED newspaper files for at least two newpspapers for over 120 yrs, a family name file index, city dirctories, phone books, photo files, etc. - the website may show their holdings, if not, they'll send you a brochure. They hold not only Arkansas records but many records from the surrounding "Territories," [before Arkansas and Oklahoma were states] and neighboring states. You may find your Arkansas Webb family with them and be able to trace backwards. There was a great migration into Arkansas in this era, as the railroad had built a central point there, roundhouse, RepTrak (repair track), and many lines converged at Little Rock for good reason, opening jobs and bringing people in, plus the area had opened to homesteaders. Good luck!
