    2. Hello everyone!!! My name is Rick Reed and I am researching Webbs. I am currently interested in researching Rutherford County North Carolina Webbs. A bunch of these Webbs migrated to Warren County Tennessee shortly after 1800 and others stayed behind and I quess some migrated later. I am interested in a Hiram John Webb who was listed as one of the purchasers in the Sale bill, 5 February 1813, of the estate of Elias Webb. Other Webbs listed were David Webb, Jonathan Webb, John Webb,Lusy Webb, Ursula, Carolina Webb. Anyone who can help me identify these Webbs would be most appreciated. I came across an interesting land transaction and I will send this out next in case someone might be interested. Thanks, Rick

    3. Referring to Ron Turner's book, "Webb Families of the Virginias," p.56 - Sadie Webb, 6th child of Giles F. Webb & Nellie Lammia Cook. Giles was s/o James Madison Webb and Sara Jones. No other info, but child before her, #5, was b.25 Dec 1904,Wyoming Co, VA, so this Sadie b.too late to be yours. p.66 - Sadie Webb, 3d child of Jacob Webb and Nancy Angeline Stewart, b.1904 (also b.too late to be yours) p.128 - "1880 Soundex," Sadie Webb, age 18, b.MO, d/o John & Susan Webb, b.VA, living in Iron Co, MO. (makes her dob 1862, close dob, but pob & father don't match) Those are all the Sadie's listed, no other S., etc. for possibilities. Sorry. 3. Hi Sam, I think my Webbs, James and Jane Claxton Webb came from Va. They married in Botetourt Co. Va 1784. Now they may have been else where between then and time they settled in Shelby Co. Ky. James was buying land in Jefferson Co. Ky. as early as 1795 and living in Shelby Co. soon afterwards. They had 13 children and I only know of 3 of them. One son, Richard D. Webb moved to Illinois in 1834 and I think that some of his brothers and sisters went also as well as Jane, the mother. The eldest son, James, stayed on in Shelby Co. until he died in 1833 ( my line). I often think with 9 -10 other children, that I can't identify, they might have stayed in Ky. There was a John Webb living in Shelby Co. early 1800's, that was an older man, that might have been related to my James. Maybe a brother?? As far as the Ellis' - my husbands family were in the Spencer and Anderson Counties in later years and I haven't done much researching on them. Recently was in contact with someone researching our family - but I recently lost my hard-drive and lost her name and e-mail and what info. she had sent me. I am trying to rebuild - so hopefully I will run across her again. The only way I have ever be able to truly identify my James Webb is when wife Jane is mentioned. I have never seen anything with a middle name or initial for him - so it's been so very limited. There isn't much info. on our Webbs in Shelby Co. - just land transactions. 3. Darlene, Do you still reside in Shelby County? I am also on the Webb list and my Grandmother was a Webb. I would like to compare notes with you on your James Webb, as my ancestor James also came to KY from VA by way of NC. Seems to be a lot of parallels in the description. Please answer to my home address. I also reside in Shelby County and maybe acquainted with your Ellis family. Sue =================== I do not know how many times in the last 2 years I have mentioned we had a place , no one responded so I was working on another list at that time and posted when I was done we would see , but I also have mentioned about the Webb Chat list website for uploads and the list takes attachments and is a good tool for genealogy , there are ways to use it to display pictures you wish to upload, and my website has always been open for the Webb list projects that we need to do, I also have nearly unlimited web space I acquired for it as was mentioned back then when we were doing the lingoes for the site, I made a fill in page so people would not have to wait for me to post them , any one can go there and post what lines they wish for future use. One other thing too is that I call my site Genealogy resources, this means links to others, you can put your links in that fill in site I made too, and also on the main web page rootsweb has for the lists on the message boards there are several places and ways to share pictures and files there , we have a new type of message board and it also takes attachments . Best for people to check out the new rootsweb stuff via the link below and my site seems to have been forgot since I have been working I have not been online every day all day like before. One thing I am doing is making a CD of my website and it will be all in HTML so it can be viewed like a web site . All the data and lines will be there , no charge , this would include the pictures . But since Mike has started a site I guess I should suspend the picture pages I had written but not yet set up. I am still completing the other site , it has 336 pictures and about 100+ that will be public , some of it is already up , there are about 200 pages on my site but you wont see them unless you click all the links. No password has ever been needed and all submitted data always belongs to the poster and once removed I never keep any of it if requested not to. The Webb list has been really quiet lately till this . I am wondering just what to do with my plans on this Webb picture site I have in the works now, I will post the links to the other one I am working on if any one wants to see it , Also on my Main page there has always been a link to Pictures to share , no one ask, also on my SIG file it always has my links and the bottom comment ( all my lists have web sites please ask = see below , so every one who has ever read my messages has know about the list web sites. SO where do we go now >? I have a few years of work on my site for the list , what should I do with is and is it still needed ? Should I continue , or let it go ? The link to the Webb list support page is in the bottom of all the messages , there are several pages of Webb lines I have posted , many hours of work there and more to come as I still have to put the full text pages to html , or should I, I am as loss what to do but at any rate there is a place where people can add their lines and it gets posted . It dont matter what Mike is doing as much as it matters we all are doing some thing. The whole internet is full of web links.we do not even know about some one needs to spider the net and get some more links to add to the list web site. Let me know, because my web site is set up now to show pictures with your lines you posted , or yours as a thumbnail. 3. Hi, Just a note to announce that Horace M. Webb's web page is available again after being off of the net for about a year. Check it out at http://www.geocities.com/horace_webb/ Here is a brief note from the page: My ancestors were in the Mississippi Gulf Coast area as early as Eighteen hundred and fifteen. Daniel WEBB was born in what is now Jackson County, MS about 1815 and my family has been in the area since that time. I am retired from the Postal Service in Jackson, Hinds Co., MS and have worked on my family history for several years. Would like to exchange data with anyone that can prove a connection to my family. See my SURNAMES File. Rodney M. And as I have been working so hard and coming home tired I had missed it as I had not been reading all my lists, barely keeping up with a few and my private mail I see here there was the question asked and no one answered it so he assumed there was no place . Ok what I have wrote to Mike in private since he wants to do this I will add his link to our web site , how ever I am still taking the lines on my website , and also pictures , which our web site is listed in all the message tag lines once again , and I see I have 30 pages of lineage's to put into html Since Rootsweb and My Family have merged and the Genconnects have became message boards I see no reason to start one as I have for one of my otherlists, now I have suggested every one to use the main message boards Using the link below Use < http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/w/e/WEBB/ > you can still access these boards and the website this like connects to is your main website to list your web sites and scroll to the bottom click QUERIES and it will take you to the message boards . Lets let Mike continue , he did ask, I missed it , and my apologies , I should have not missed the question in the first place. If there are any more questions or some one wants to bang me on the head with a fry pan, go ahead , guess being dog tired and fighting so much dust too clouded my brain . 3. The below message was missing the proper wording or tact , after getting a complaint about it I have reread it over several times and have decided that the way it was sent was wrong and not becoming of a list admin , I offer apologies to every one and Mike too . It might have said Thanks Mike we need more people like you to do these things. NOT <<> I do not mind others who join in to do things for the name of genealogy>>> ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------- Because who am I to mind ? This wording was wrong , what I meant was Welcome?<sigh> On the next line - re reading this one , comes to mind a bit rude and it only means a reminder we have a web site we were working on we have never completed, how ever so many times I say (* you can never get enough advertising in genealogy *) Again , worded wrong - Next it would be nice for people to preplan a major undertaking and let the list admin know so we can create a plan to make it work smoothly because I like to help people or even be involved in a new plan l;-) Next line = about posting in private = this is always a rule of thumb when something has been offered to a list that many may wish to be involved in because of the membership being so large that 600 people wanting to be involved all posting to the list could be a major e-mail undertaking to people who are not concerned in taking the names of those taking part , as well as those with small mail boxs and getting bounced off the list for over fill of their mail while not home . Next line , had Mike ask etc: only goes to preplanning , was not a complaint , just a suggestion that this would have averted a trend of the same me too's /\ Next line - we did loose some people who got frustrated , I will write them , they may come back ok. Next line = Anyone who has new ideas etc: Hey we need new Ideas all the time , we should make some plans before popping up with them to see how good we can get them advertised and answered ? This was an attempt to explain what my message below was supposed to mean , I was not trying to blast Mike, but I am curious about a few things, but have been writing to him in private and hope to work on this , we need people like Mike and a few others to do these things, any one need help on a web site, I am willing to help, also have a list for this too.
