Hello List, I am wondering if anyone has some info. I am Looking for info on my family, I have been having a real hard time with this line. My Great Grandfather: Louis Clarence Webb was born Nov. 1,1879 maybe in Tenn or Va. Not for sure. He died May 15,1955 in Liberty County, Texas. I have been asking everyone in the family for months for more info, the only thing that has come out of this is more questions. But this is what they have said. Louis's fathers name was suppose to be Fulton, So maybe it could be Robert Fulton Webb ( after famous people) Louis's mothers name is suppose to be Elizabeth, (no last name known) Louis is suppose to have a sister named Elizabeth and a RED HEADED School Teacher. Louis is suppose to have a brother named Walter and one named Bert which could be Albert, Robert, Or maybe Wilbert. There might be more brothers and sisters, but this is all I can find out by talking to the kids of Louis. I know he meet and married my Great Grandmother in 1915, Louis Was 36 years old. My G Grandma was 17, there is a big age difference so maybe he was married before. They meet in Welsh La., and Louis told her if anything was to happen to him and she needed help, contact his family in Roanoke. There is a Roanoke in VA. and about 8 miles away from Welsh, LA. there is a Roanoke, LA. I don't know which one. If anyone might think they know something of this line of WEBB'S I would Love to hear from you. I am ready to beat my head against a wall. Thank You For Your Time !!!!! ===== Have A Great Day...xoxoxoxoxo...Kimmyann __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Make a great connection at Yahoo! died in the Civil War. I have no alternative but to eliminate from all the John Webbs who served. I know nothing about him but his year of birth and father's name. He is reported to have never married, but so is his brother who did marry! So I can't take that as a given. If you "own" one of these John Webbs, please let me know, and if you can, tell me his date of birth and father's name, and if he survived the War, and If possible a spouse's name. Then perhaps if I come across another record that lists a birth year, I can eliminate. Thanks for your assistance! Anne
Served in the 1st Regiment, Alabama Cavalry on the Union side and was a Sgt in Co. B. Anybody "own" this John Webb? Anne
Thanks Roy, Your web site is very nicely done!!.. Just wondering if you have a Webb family connection to Sullivan County, TN Carroll family? I'm curious about a Jane Webb who married John Himes. I'm a Carroll researcher, and I have a Thomas Carroll think age about 50ish listed on 1880 Sullivan County Census as son in law to Jane Webb Himes/ husband John dead. Sallie Webb, Jane's sister in House hold. I have yet to find the wife of Thomas Carroll as he and wife were heirs to the himes land but don't know of the daughter of Jane and John's he was married to...can you help.... Can anyone out there help me? Jan
H Everyone- Well, I forgot a map! On my site at www.eastes.org, under Obadiah, their is a Figure 2 shows the major trails east of the Mississippi River, and the probable routes my ancestors took as they migrated from South Carolina into Indiana Terr. from 1798 to 1804. Sorry for the omission! Best Regards to All Roy Eastes
Hi Jan and others! I should have said - I found the Indian Trails map on this URL: http://ncnatural.com/maps/ There are others that are of interest also- In reply to your question on a map of TN - I have a new site under construction at - www.eastes.org (It isn't completed yet). If you go there and click on "Elisha" you will find a Figure 2. A portion of a map of TN in 1795. Figure 2 shows a portion of a 1795 map of Tennessee, courtesy of the Tennessee State Library and Archives. Only the east end of this map is shown as it contains the information relative to our traveling ancestors. Some additional labels have been added for more detailed identification of landmarks. The Great Indiana War Path ran past Roane Co., Tennessee and went northeast to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Wilderness Trail ran north or northwest through the Cumberland Gap and into Kentucky. This Trail varies in distance depending upon which reference is used. When completed there will be a map under "Obadiah" on the Eastes Site that shows the location of abt 71 forts and Stations in KY. I hope to have this map up in the near future. Best Regards Roy Eastes
Thanks Roy, Great Map, do you have one for TN? Jan
Hi Everyone - Here is a very good map of the Indian Trails in early NC: http://ncnatural.com/maps/pathsandtowns.jpg Best Regards Roy Eastes

This is a long shot, but in 1830 we have children just "appearing" in two households. I believe these two households might be a father and a son. This suggests to me that someone has died and perhaps their children were split between a parent and a sibling. Both these households are along the Chattahoochee, more or less. The children are as follow (birthplace unknown): 1F 10/15 (in possible sibling household in GA) {b. 1815-20} 1F 5/10 (in grandparents' household in AL) {b. c. 1820-25} 1M u 5 (in grandparents' household in AL) {b. 1825-30} 2F u 5 (in possible siblings household in GA) {b. 1825-30} These children are all gone, or appear to be, from these two households by 1840. The two in the grandparents MIGHT be two people still living in AL in 1840, but it's not certain. That's a LOT of children to die in 10 years! Especially since they "came out of nowhere." Almost looks to me to possibly be the remnants of a first marriage and perhaps the beginnings of a second marriage, especially if the F 5/10 is closer to either end of the age spectrum. Chances are the father or mother would have been a WEBB at birth. And, naturally, we have no names! Or if you have a stray WEBB that fits the birth criteria? I would guess born in NC, GA, or AL. Anne
Texas Jane: There is no middle initial given. This paper clearly states this William Webb was 22 in 1870. However, dates can be off as much as four years. Do you know what county your William Webb was BORN in? I'm not trying to be difficult, I just want to make sure this gets to the right home :)! Anne
I have a William E.Webb born in 1852 that lived in Whitesboro (near Sherman) and later in the Bonham area, (Fannin County Texas)could this be the same area? If this is the right area I would Love to have the information. Thanks
Sue, (skip down to new stuff!) I sent for some records from the Texas Archives because I thought perhaps some of my Webbs were among them. I ordered all the names that showed up in my family, and William was among those names. What I have is a receipt for pay signed by William Webb (the W. middle initial is taken from a posting on the Webb Forum that says the govt records -- NARA -- have a William W. Webb in the Spanish American War). It gives his rank and company and is dated August 1901. And there is an address (which I am withholding to try to determine who he belongs to -- i.e., if you can tell me, I will believe he is yours <G>). I had hoped this was my William Webb, but he died in 1895, or so we are told, so the 1901 date excludes him. Anne Sue -- Comanche County isn't the address he gives, but it may be the mustering out point. Anyway, it proves he was alive in 1901. If you are positive this is your William, just send me an SASE 8.5x11 so I won't have to fold it. It's a photocopy not an original but it's certified by the Texas State Archives. And I'll take 10 cents in loose postage for the dime I spent on it! Anne

HI List. Please be advised that my email address has changed, and any help locating my GGrandfather,Samuel Webb, will continue to be appreciated. My GGrandfather,Samuel Webb, was born in 1833 in New York. My Grandfather;s death certificate, indicated that Samuel was born in Warwick,N.Y. Orange Co. Samuel was in Elmira,N.Y. in 1858 when my Grandfather,Charles Webb, was born. Samuel and Olive Decker Webb left Elmira and moved to Moosic,Pa.,where a second son was born in 1859. They all were on the 1860 Census for Luzerne Co.Pa. and also on the 1870 Census. IN 1872 Samuel left Olive Decker Webb and moved to Wellsboro,Pa. with a Olive Scott, where they had a son,Harry. Over the course of the next several years they moved around Pa. as Samuel worked in the Coalmines. Other children were born,Alonzo.Everett,Samuel,Minni.Sarah. On the 1880 Census for Lackawanna Co. Olive Scott Webb was listed with three of the children.Harry,Everett,Minni. Samuel was off working somewere in the Coalmines My Brick Wall is finding when Samuel died (between 1895-1900) and where he was buried. I don't think that he was in Lackawanna Co. when he died because Olive Scott and the children were not on the 1900 Census. I checked the 1900 Soundex for Pa. and New York and with no success. It is possible that Samuel is buried in Marcy Cemetery,Duryea Pa. or Springbrook Cemetery,Springbrook,Pa. I have a copy of a receipt for the services of William Webb in the Spanish American War with his signature. If he is yours, 10 cents and return postage (8.5x11 SASE to avoid folding) will get you this document. Anne
If this is your fellow, I have some documents from the State of Texas Archives regarding his service in the Frontier Forces. There is great information in these papers. They could be yours, if he's yours, for the enormous sum of 30 cents plus return postage (SASE -- to avoid folding legal size manila envelope). I got them on spec thinking he might be mine no such luck :( Anne
Hi Anne, I am getting in on the last part of this conversation but am extremely interested in this William Webb document you have. Bring me up to speed?
