    1. [WEBB] Meredith E. Webb
    2. Looking for information on a Meredith E. Webb born about 1803 in N.C. Had 4 wives: Charlotta Brown m. abt 1826 in TN Caroline McDonald m. bef 1845 in TX Rebecca Snider m. abt 1846 in TX Ellen Tamm m. 1871 in TX Supposedly had 22 children by his first 3 wives. I only have 18 of them. Meredith appears to have been a popular name among the Webbs back then. Does anyone know who Meredith's parents were and what the E. stood for? I am descended from his son Jefferson Napoleon Webb from his marriage to Charlotta Brown. Any help appreciated. Lisa Webb Dodson Houston, TX

    2. Emily, I have been long looking for a Webb/Turner connection going back to 18th century, when John Turner Webb was born to Robert Webb. The grandfather's name was John, Also, and they lived in Anson/Richmond county. Thru the centuries down there have been six John Turner Webbs in different generations, and I have always thought it was a family name, perhaps beginning with the wife of the first John Webb, who was born (maybe) in 1717, and died (for sure) IN 1794, as I have a copy of his will. He may have been married in Virginia, tho I have been unable to prove. Can you tell me the connection between your Turners and Webbs? Irene Webb Dorsey

    1. [WEBB] Thomas Webb, Jr., s/o Thomas Webb and Sarah Wells
    2. I have located a Thomas Webb, whom I believe is the son of Thomas Webb, Sr. and Sarah Wells (daughter of Rice Wells) of Smith County, Texas. Thomas or T. W. Webb was born June 19, 1845, and died November 4, 1904. He is buried with his wife, Mary B. (b. 9-13-1855, d. 3-21-1892) at the Haney cemetery, near Hawkins, Wood Co., Texas, which borders Smith Co. My primary interest is in the Webb families that settled in East Texas. As yet, I have not verified any relation between T. W. and my Webb family, however, he is buried very near my gg-grandmother Martha E. Webb. In my research I found a 1900 Wood Co. census record for a Thomas Webb. It records that he was born in 1845, that he was 54 (the census was taken 6-2-1900, just days before he turned 55), born in Texas, father born in Miss., mother born in Miss. He is widowed (which would be correct since his wife died in 1892) and living in his household are children: Ella V., b. 1879, Ivey b. 1882, Douglas b. 1885, and T. R. b. 1887. (I wonder if T. R. stood for Thomas Rice?) Going back to the 1880 Smith Co. census I found Thomas living with Dr. James and Sarah McCorkle (Sarah's 2nd marriage). Thomas is married to Mary and has a daughter named Ella (also the name of his sister). Due to an ugly black spill on the census page I cannot make out Mary or Ella's ages, but it shows Thomas to be 35, which would be correct. There is also a record on the Smith County CSA soldiers list that records that Thomas served during the civil war. *************************************************** Confederate Indigent Families Index (this is from the list of families receiving aid while the men are away serving in the war): Webb, Thomas | Wood County **************************************************** 1850 Smith County Census Index---(Sarah Webb d/o Rice Wells) Webb Sarah 28 80b 39 Webb Thomas 6 80b 40 Webb Ella 3 80b 41 **************************************************** 1880 WEBB THOMAS Smith County TX 271 E.
