    1. Re: [WEBB] Webb Family Info
    2. Paige My Elizabeth A. was one of the last of the children of Elias and Mary Ann Webb. The family split up after about 1844 -- Apparently Mary Ann died c. 1840 -- perhaps in childbirth or from complications after. With 1840 Census data the way it is, it's hard to tell, but it looks like she's gone from the household and some older woman is in the household -- not much older, but too old to be Mary Ann and not old enough to be anyone's mother (besides I think Elias and Mary Ann's mothers were both dead by then). Siblings: Britain Rice (spelling varies on Britain -- Britton, Brittain, etc.), George Washington, Elias B., William Henry, James M. and John for the boys. Girls: Matilda Caroline, Lucinda Jane, Mary, Susannah, Julia Ann, Maranda Angeline, Catherine ?. I say Catherine? because Elias B.'s son wrote that Elias and Mary Ann "Nancy" Webb had 13 children and didn't mention Elizabeth. However, the children's births covered 1811-1839, and Elias B. was in the middle and his son was writing the family story in 1895 with the help of Britain Rice's widow. So we have some questions about the exact composition of the family.Of course, one might have died young and Britain's widow and Elias' B.'s son might not have known about her at all. Or Catherine might have been older than Elizabeth and died young and they didn't know about Elizabeth. In 1850, the Census data shows (roughly) the following: Britain is married and in MS. Matilda is married and in TX. George Washington is married and he's already out in CA and his wife is in AL (we find Elias and James and John listed in her household). Elias B. is missing, presumed killed by Indians or Mexicans in TX while on a visit to his sister Matilda. William Henry is married and in Muscogee Co., GA Lucinda Jane is married (Cox) Mary is married (Nobles) and James and John are ALSO listed in HER household (apparently the AL census was taken late as one boy is one year older and the other is shown as 2 years older, but that's another story) Susan is married (Holt) Julia Ann is married to Hasty Maranda Angeline is married (Pike) no sign of either Elizabeth OR Catherine -- no graves located -- no certain birthdates on either. I do have an Elizabeth who married Jordan in 1819 and a Catherine who married Page in 1823. We thought these were Elias's sisters or cousins, but I suppose they could have been his children -- Matilda married about age 13, and apparently Maranda Angeline also married quite young. But I can find no trace of them beyond their marriages. I have nothing relating to Madison Co., GA, but then I don't know Elias's siblings....possible his youngest was given to a sister or sister-in-law to raise. Precious little to try to match up on, eh? What do you think? Anne

    2. Ann, Thanks for all the avenues to explore. I'm still learning how to find some of the genealogical sites so there are probably lots of places for information that I don't know about yet. Any help is appreciated. My direct Line is Isaiah Webb, Thomas Franklin Webb, Albert Lafayette Webb, John Dickerson (Richard or Dick) Webb Donald Glen Webb. Zulima Webb (daughter of Isaiah Webb) b. nov 04, 1838 Bedford Co., Tenn: D.Jan 21, 1917 Pea Ridge, Benton Co., Ark. Married Thomas Frank Price Dec. 27, 1866 Benton Co., Ark. Children were Teresa Price, Estella Price, Edna Mae Price and Horace Price. I have information on various members of family, but just can't seem to find parents or siblings of Isaiah Webb. 3. I do see what you mean about the subject lines, it makes sense. However I hope folks aren't too quick to just delete messages without reading them because they don't recognise the name in the subject line. I look at all messages, someone may have in the subject a name I don't know, but some other name in their line "may" ring a bell, we wouldn't be reading these at all if we had all the names, dates and places of all our ancestors. :) ----- Original Message ----- From: <MarniBugQuilts@aol.com> To: <WEBB-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, January 16, 2002 7:54 PM Subject: Re: [WEBB] Good subject lines for queries > Dear Webb List > > I have been online doing my own genealogical research for over a decade. 2. Dear Webb List I have been online doing my own genealogical research for over a decade. I am a member on many maillists. You can just imagine the number of emails I get in a day--usually at least 80. So imagine how much it would mean to me if you would put [WEBB] Franklin Marion Webb b 1835 Morgan Co TN in the subject line instead of leaving [WEBB] Webb Family Tree If it is a busy day I am tempted to delete emails with subjects which don't pertain to me. I would hate to miss out on a connection because I was inundated with "Webb Family Tree" subject lines. We are ALL working on Webb Family Trees. That's why we joined the list. Please write a subject line that tells us something about WHICH Webb you want to discuss. Thank you for your time Marcia ggg granddaughter of Cutbirth Webb b 1806 in KY d before Dec 1868 in Scott Co TN

    1. [WEBB] SSDI
    2. I know almost all genealogy sites have a searchable SSDI. One time I searched one looking up my grandmother, and it came up and gave me her parents last names as well as the birth date, death date, SS# etc. Now I can't find this site again.... All of them that I try searching on, doesn't list the last name of the person parents. Can anybody tell me where I found this so I can use it again? Thanks, Sandi

This database was created by humans keypunching data into computers, thereby creating a margin of error. There are surname entries in the SSDI that begin with characters or numbers and plain old-fashioned typos. Many errors in the SSDI suggest that the first character in the surname field is the middle initial of the individual. For example, Felicia BBROWN may actually be Felicia B. Brown. Because of the computerized nature of the SSDI, anyone searching for Felicia Brown would not find her in the index because of the error in the spelling of her surname. SSDI Vault http://www.lineages.com/vault/SSDI.asp SSDI denied http://www.disabilityattorneys.com/ssdi.html SSDI can I get MY own copy http://www.kichline.com/carrie/ssdi.html SSDI is also disabluity Insurace , lots of links for those. I have an FTM SSDI up to 1996 complete, and up to 1998 A-M, some how I got 2 A version copies. I hope this will help out I have more saved links on this but i think this has the best there is in he re. Dan

    3. Dan and everyone, It is about a day late to inform us about these addresses being so available. .Doesn't everyone think it might be a good idea for the List managers to post a few dos and don'ts before the fact. I would have appreciated an alert about this. Guess I figured that my address is in phone books and other public areas--- if I considered it at all. Thanks for the warning though. Maybe a little protocol about these lists would be a help to all of us. 3. A direction helps too e.g. Subline: Jerry Webb b.1870 Tenn>MD1890>KY1891 example Some time back I had some things going to excite the list, this list has always been responsive to these things and a lot of really good people are here . We all get side tracked, me so many things have been going on I get stuck all day on one list , I have 189 list folders on my OE , I know , I just counted them, close to 3000 members on 53 of my own lists , not counting message boards . Its hard for me to get to the W in my folders , sorry folks I should have been paying closer attention , some here know I will be now <G> On with what ever was going on, just be careful about donating your address on line in public. 3. I agree the topic of RE SUBJECT has been off, I was busy getting ready for our dryer to come as I was addressing this other problem , then to the sub lines, folks . Please do change them , as I have said lots of times on all the lists The subject line is your best add , every one will see it even if they dont read the message , lots of readers might be deleting the repeat sub lines and missed your post. Please dont mad at some one asking this <G> Any one has a request like this in the future , you have a list manager to do these things , a couple people had already ask me to mention it . So remember what was posted here Also Dan = list admin Genealogy Community http://www.wvi.com/~wb/ By working together, with everyone contributing on topic we will all learn together Teach in Peace , Learn with respect.
