Your Sarah Byars looks to have been married to Rev. John Webb. Sarah born 1742, father John Henry Byars, mother Rachel Mathew. Sarah and John had ten children. All of this information is what I have gleaned looking over messages on different genealogy sites. I have more information if this seems to be the line, or if you think it would help. You are welcome to contact me if necessary. ----- Original Message ----- From: <TALLT75501@aol.com> To: <WEBB-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 19, 2002 8:55 AM Subject: Re: [WEBB] Re: Jeremiah Webb - KY > Dear Webb family, This Sarah Byars married John Webb who was born abt 1740. > She was born in Granville County, North Carolina. Hello List, I am wondering if anyone has a W.C. Webb in there line? I have seen a marriage liences on a W.C. Webb and Emma E. Williams on USGEN WEB and would love to find out about this and His line. I have been searching for my GGrand Father for a long time, with out any luck. He was suppose to be from VA, TENN, or WV. But recently I have been told that he was in a Auto and Train wreck and he was not thinking clearly when they got him to the hospital. When the Doctors asked him where he was from, he replyed, " Sullivan Co. VA." Well I have found the Sullivan Co. is in Tenn. But it borders VA. I have searched the census records and found nothing. But I was hopeing that maybe Someone on this list might have a W.C. Webb or a L.C. Webb in there line. His Mothers name was suppose to be Elizabeth. and he had a sister named after her.(He also Named a daughter after her.) The C. could be for Clarence or Charles. Them names are also names of his children. He also named a Daughter Cora. When looking at census records these names stand out, cause they was 1800 and early 1900 names it seems. Please contact me if you think and of this sounds like part of a Webb line you have came across. Lookin for information regarding WILLIAM GREEN WEBB b. 9 March 1846 Washington County, GA d. 30 March 1916 Laurens County, GA. (His parents were: William A. Webb and Elizabeth Martin.) I have HIS lineage... if anyone need it...but am searching for info on his wife, MARY FRANCES "MOLLIE" HARRISON b. 28 June 1849 d. 29 Oct. 1912. They were married 16 May 1869/GA. (My information is that Mary Frances Harrison was born in Johnson County, GA.) The children of William Green Webb and Mary Frances "Mollie" Harrison were: William Thomas Webb 1870-1939 Nannie E. Webb b. 1883 There may be a chance of a Gilmere or Gilmore connection to this family...not sure/just a possibility. Still checking that out... Also, there is a Drury Washington Harrison with wife, Amanda Boatright, who had a dtr named "Mary F." Harrison listed in the GA 1870 census... Washington County, GA. Any assistance will be appreciated. ( Am willing to share any WEBB-HARRISON data I have.) Fran in SC
> I just ran across the names of Ben Webb and Washington Webb in Bullitt Co. > KY. They were at the 1835 estate sale of Augustine Webb, so no doubt are > connected, but I don't know how. Anyone looking for a Ben or Washington Webb? I was finally able to get to my Webb data. I was correct...Ben and Washington Webb were sons of Moses Webb (wife unknown). Like you, I do not know how they connect to Augustine Webb as I do not know siblings of Moses. I do know Moses had 6 children: Hannah, John, Benjamin, Moses, Jr., Mary and Washington. By 1832, Moses, Sr. was living in Ill with one of his children. He died in 1833. Sheridan
Hmmmm I think you might find something in the New Kent Co, VA St. Peter's Parish register. Can't swear to it, but I think I saw some of these people in there earlier today when I was chasing another line. It's online -- at www.usgenweb.com under New Kent Co., VA and somewhere else Google search on "New Kent VA ST. Peter's Parish" and you'll find it. Anne

I have two lines of Webb that I could really use some help with. First of all I have Nancy Elizabeth Webb b. 1828 in Tazewell Co. Virginia. She married a Workman. Her father was; George Jr. Webb b. abt 1795 in Virginia. He married Elizabeth Keller. His father was; George Webb who married Nancy Knuckles. George died about 1821. My second line is; Mary Webb b. 1725 in Henry Co. Virginia. She married Charles Burns. Her father was Merry Webb b. 1694 in ? He married Ann Martin. His father was Merry Webb Sure hope someone out there can help me. thanks Rachel Herren Omaha, Nebraska
Hi Shirley - I don't think this John could have been the father of Meredith E. Webb because of Sarah's age (wasn't she born about 1751?). Meredith was born in 1803 and John could have been the father as Meredith was still fathering children in his 60's (my grandmother, for instance) but it's doubtful that Sarah could have been the Mother as she would have been about 52 at that time. Meredith had 4 wives - all younger than he - which enabled him to keep producing (could have been as many as 23). There is a John Webb in Maury County, TN in 1820 - the same time as Meredith Burton Webb. The census shows him with one male under 10, one male 16-18, one male 16-26 (could be my Meredith), one male 26-45 (which is probably John), one female under 10, one female 10-16 and one female 26-45 (his wife). This John sounds like he could be a brother to Meredith Burton Webb which is a theory we've been going on - he's too young to be the John married to Sarah Byars. The only thing that bothers me is that he doesn't show up in the 1830 census unless he left and then came back - remember the document I mentioned shows that he died in 1838 in Maury County if this is the same man. Meredith, however, does show up for the last time in the 1830 Maury County census with two males under 5 (Anthony & Jefferson), Meredith age 20 to 30 and Charlotta his wife age 20-30 which all fits.........Shirley ----- Original Message ----- From: TALLT75501@aol.com To: WEBB-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, February 19, 2002 9:55 AM Subject: Re: [WEBB] Re: Jeremiah Webb - KY Dear Webb family, This Sarah Byars married John Webb who was born abt 1740. I recall comng across the information recently that Ben(ajah) Webb was a son of Augustine Webb. I am not sure of the accuracy of that information. ~ Winnie

Some sank deep roots and others moved on, scattering our ancestors from coast to coast. Our purpose is to have fun, get acquainted, and swap genealogical information. The above is a list of the families which we know for sure had ties in early East Tennessee and the ones we have some information on. However, ALL surnames are welcome to attend whether your name is listed here or not! There will be a wealth of information to share. Plan on attending please! We Do Need A Head Count though as to NOT overbook the Park. (Numbers of persons coming that is what needed). We would love to have volunteers for some of the surnames on the list to act as co-hosts/co-hostesses to greet and help people with their surname, to be made to feel welcome and to help them meet researchers working on the same surnames. We want everyone to have fun, feel welcomed, and enjoy themselves. **That's What Tennessee Stands For: THE VOLUNTEER STATE ** "Where pride walks and the flag flies!"** We know that we have some college instructors attending who perhaps can be persuaded to speak about history/genealogy. We also have experts and accredited genealogist who have been researching for 30 plus years. They are ready to share their information with us. ---------------------- Attendance is FREE . . . but we will have a "donation" jar to offset the cost for using the campground, tableware, entertainment, and clean up. ---------------------- PLEASE PLAN ON ATTENDING AND BRING: 1. First and foremost yourselves... 2. ALL BOOKS, BIBLES, PICTURES, FAMILY SHEETS, AND INFORMATION YOU HAVE AVAILABLE... 3. A covered dish to share. Drinks, ice chest 5. A chair or blanket to sit on...If you are serving as a host or hostess, you will also need a small table (card table size or larger) to display your family information on. -------------------------- Last year was our first attempt to pull all these early settlers' descendants together. As far as we knew, it had never been attempted before. It was a resounding success for a first attempt, and it was agreed that it should become an annual event. This area is so very rich in history, both as an Indian frontier and as an isolated jewel of Union sympathy during the Civil War. It also served as a departure point for westward movement and new settlement. Our ancestors left us a rich heritage, which we are striving to preserve and pass on to our children and grandchildren. This rich tapestry of ideals and values is what made us a great nation and what made each of us what we are today. And it began with our earliest immigrant ancestors who came here to start a new life and a new country. COME and SHARE that heritage with us on July 13-14.
