Anne, Would you believe I can not find my notes. but I know this is correct: 1860 Dekalb Co. Tn. JAMES WEBB 21? MARY 16 Wife Sarah Jones 35 (mother in law of James) James is listed as wounded at the battle of Stones River, Murfreesboro Tn. I have yet to find out if he died there or was sent home. He is listed in the Adcock and Webb researchers I have chatted with as dying in 1863. Both he and his wife died within a year Mary Ann Adcock died in 1862 leaving a newborn and a 2 year old my great grandmother, also Mary Ann Webb her sister was Sarah. This is the only mention of the Webbs in the research I have done, other than James father, was Jesse or Jesse Levi, and there are plenty of those too. In fact , when I find the census, listing I will check and see I believe he has a brother John, who may or may not be old enough for the civil war. I will find the notebook and get back to you. but I am sure of the census date, and the Civil War battle and the death. This will teach me not to organize. I CAN'T FIND A THING. C.J. Williams
How do I get to the Webb Web Page? Pat in Ohio
OK I'm putting together a spread sheet of these names, maybe we can all sort them out. C. J. Williams you said your James was "from DeKalb Co, TN" do you have him in a Census there? the 1850? what age was he in that Census? If people will provide me with their information, I'll put it into this file, and perhaps those of us with "lost" James and Johns can figure out which ones belong to us. Anne
Oh, bless you! According to the information I have, none of the Angelina (and variants) really fits. The following is the ONLY one with the place of birth I have for her, but the birth year is WAY WAY off. However, I have seen variations in age that big for the same person, so let's take a look at her please. See what surname shows and if she has the daughter with her, but by 1880, E.J. Webb, if she lived, could have been married herself. ::SIGH:: Thank you! Anne WEBB, Angeline Wife <1856> F W MS MS As for James, let's look at this one....if he went AWOL he might lie about birthplace and TX would have been a good place to go! WEBB, James M. Self <1839> M W TN TX Let's look at this one for John. WEBB, John Self <1834> M W GA GA Kim, don't spend a lot of time on this.....just the 1880 possibilities help me. I have absolutely NO clue where they might have been in 1880. I can trace all the likely James & Johns back to 1850 maybe, and eliminate. I was stuck on Angeline, because she could have remarried ANY name in the world!
