    3. Becky, my William had a son between 20 and 30 in the 1830 census in Clay County, Illinois. Actually, there was a male in his household in that age bracket--I just jumped to the assumption that it was a relative. They were in Clay County. Unfortunately, I have not yet bought Dollarhide's census book....I mean to every day....so I do not know if the Counties are close by. By 1840 William has moved out of the county or died....he is no longer listed in the census for Clay County. But certainly the male in the household is the right age for your George W. Webb. He may not have been living in Greene County....he may have just been married in the county in which his bride lived. But that makes him pretty young when he died. Well....it sure is something to thinnk about. Marsha in WV BecMeinzer@aol.com wrote: > > James and Marsha-- > I too have a Webb in Illinois. His name was George W. 1. [WEBB] Re: Webbs - Illinois, etc.
    2. James and Marsha-- I too have a Webb in Illinois. His name was George W. Webb, and he was living in Greene Co., Illinois in 1832 when he married Mary Irwin/Erwin. He also fought in the Black Hawk War. However, he was not in the 1830 Greene Co. Census, so he must have resided elsewhere prior to 1830. Does anyone have a George W. Webb in about 1830. I don't know how old he would have been, but he must have died before 1840, since Mary Irwin Webb married someone else in 1840. Any help with a George W. Webb would be appreciated. 3. William, I just printed out your Webb's in Illinois, Iowa, etc. I will take a look at them when I get a chance. May I ask for some clarification before I do that? Do you know where your Webb family was before Illinois? Do you know when they moved to Illinois? Do you know to where in Illinois they moved? I am looking for Webb family related to William Webb who was living in Clay County Illinois when the 1830 census was taken. I hope to get time today to look for him in the 1820 census and perhaps the 1840 census and 1850. I have bought a subscription to Ancestry particularly to take a look. It is just a matter of finding the time to do just that. I think that he may have been in Kentucky in the 1810 census. A quick glance among your chart does not make me think that my William and Nancy Webb are among your people, but it is possible that they moved to Clay County, Illinois because of relatives already living there. I think that they moved after 1811 and before 1830. Hopefully, my census investigation will narrow that time frame down a bit. Thanks for any information that you might provide Anyone else have Webb family members in Clay County, Illinois in the first half of the 1800's? marsha in WV James Milton wrote: > > Here is my current list of all the Webb's I have. Finally they answered my e-mails properly and I can once again access my angelfire web pages. Every thing is as was except the cookies and pop ups we are getting from the web. Just thought I would let you know that my heart rate is not racing so fast now <G> Also see Raglady ( Gloria) in e-mail from time to time. Has any one any interest in the WEBB chat list ? 1. [WEBB] JOHN WEBB of RUTHERFORD County, NC
    2. I too have a WEBB. My line is John, the planter, and wife Sarah. Their son is Chesley Webb and a John Byars Webb. Chesley was born 02 January 1772. His father, John, was born abt. 1740. I found my first record of John in 1767 where he received land in Mecklenburgh. (Record- Colony of NC-Abstracts of Land # 6360, page 179). This land was sold to Hugh Quin of Tryon County and this record again list John as a planter from Orange County, NC. (Record - Land Records, July term, 1769 p 43 and 44.) John Webb is found in the 1782 tax list of Rutherford County, NC. He is also listed as a torie along with William Sr. and Benjamin in court Record of 1782 - The State of NC vs. Rutherford County. This document names the men of Rutherford County, that would not take the oath of allegiance to the State and therefore were named Tories. William and John appear in court to answer the charge of treason at a later court hearing. In 1790 Rutherford County, Morgan Company, Rutherford County, John is found with 3 sons and 3 daughters. John and William were both over 45 years of age on the 1800 Census. Could William,Benjamin and John be brothers? I have seen some researchers trying to put this John with a William Webb and a Jane Martin. But so far I have found absolutely no proof that this John could be connected to Willian and Jane Martin Webb. There was an older William Webb in Rutherford about 1727. I also have this on John Webb. John Webb lived on the Broad River. He and Sarah were members of the Sandy Run Primitive Church. The Roberts, Byars, Blackwells and Womacks are families associated with these Webbs and all these families are from Granville County, NC....I think if we all pull together and really search these things out we can either prove that he was connected or he isn't. If you have anything that can give weight to this connection(document, bible records, land deeds, court records etc....), PLEASE share with us all. Shirley
