Hey Ottice Appears you are having the same problem with your Webbs and I am having with Stella's Tennessee Webb family. Appears that 3-4 brothers came to Tennessee from VA shortly after 1800 and settled in the Anderson - Campbell Co area. Three of the brothers are documented in a book on the Longfield Baptist Church in Anderson Co TN by Edith Wilson Hutton. We are unable to connect the brothers to any Webb family back in VA. It is believed by some that the father was a John Webb. Her Grandfather eventually came to KY to mine coal and her father moved to Irvine. Are you having any water problems in Powell Co. That is where I was born. Hello again John, A newspaper clipping from a Sandiego, California newspaper dated 17 March 1920 detailing the loss of the submarine H-1, and the loss of her commanding officer, Lcdr James R. Webb was found among the papers of a distant cousin (Webb) of mine. This leads me to speculate that possiby they are members of my family of Webb's. So, I am searching. Would like to make contact with someone that has info on Hampton Newton Webb family, particularly his daughter, Elizabeth C. Webb. Elizabeth C. Webb, born 1841 Pope Co., AR Married (1) Zachariah Hill on July 16, 1858 On 1860 census, Elizabeth was living @ home of her father, Hampton N. Webb. (What happened to Zach??) Married (2) to Silas S. Linton on Oct. 19, 1865. (is this the same Elizabeth or another?) Silas died 1882 and left widow, Elizabeth, so don't see how this could be Elizabeth C.. A death record for T. J. Linton, 1865, has widow Elizabeth C. Could this be the same T. J. Linton who was married to Elizabeth Gibson Dyer? She died in 1862. And is this Elizabeth C. the daughter of Hampton N. Webb?? Ms. (Mrs.) Elizabeth Linton married (3??) Charles Campbell on Feb. 16, 1868, Pope Co., AR. I cannot determine who this Elizabeth Linton is that married Charles Campbell. They are on the 1870 census with son John Mc (Mack) Campbell and a child age 5 yrs named T. J. Linton. On Jan 16, 1873, Charles Campbell (Camble) married Caroline Maloney, so assume Elizabeth had died. This Elizabeth who married Charles Campbell is my great-grandmother, so I need to know WHO she came from. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Wanda

I need help with these Webb's. The new submarine USS H-1 (SS-28) was attached to the 2nd Torpedo Flotilla, Pacific Fleet, and operated along the West Coast out of the submarine base at San Pedro, CA. On various exercises and patrols she traveled the coast from Los Angeles to lower British Columbia, often in company with USS H-2 (SS-29) and sometimes USS H-3 (SS-30). Sailing from San Pedro on 17 October 1917, she reached New London 22 days later via Acapulco, Balboa, Key West, Charleston and Philadelphia. For the remainder of WWI, she was based there and patrolled Long Island Sound, frequently with officer students from the submarine school on board. H-1 and H-2 sailed for San Pedro on 6 January 1920, transiting the Panama Canal 20 February via Norfolk, Key West and Havana. On 12 March 1920, as H-1 made her way up the coast, the submarine suffered an onboard fire and was intentionally grounded off Santa Margarita Island, California. Four men, (M.S. Delarmarine, SN / H.M. Gillef, MM1 / Joseph Kaufman, SN / James R. Webb, LCDR (Commanding officer), were killed as they tried to reach shore. USS VESTAL, a repair ship, pulled H-1 off the rocks in the morning of 24 March, only to have her sink 45 minutes later in some 50 feet of water. Salvage was abandoned. Her name was struck from the Navy List 12 April 1920, and her hulk was sold for salvage scrap on 1 June of that year. Never salvaged her hulk was rediscovered in 1992. Here is where LCDR James R. Hello Sue, My Benjamin Webb is found in Elbert County and Madison County GA. I also find a Benjamin Goss on one of my papers from the Land Grants. But it is Webb. Pleasant Webb is his father I think Nancy Goss is either his mother or his wife, i will have to recheck my files to see. Benjamin Webb is all that I find - with his full name. That's it. Here is my line: John Webb - b. in Albemarle??? VA, Pleasant Webb, b. in VA d. in GA, My direct line is Benjamin Webb. Thanks Sue. (Connections: Roberts/Webb Lineages) Oziah Roberts married Elizabeth Webb in Elbert County GA. How are you connected to Webb's? My Webbsite is http://www.strictlygenealogyimages.org/benjaminwebb.html Let me know if you can't access. I may have Elizabeth Webb's last name wrong, and I know that Goss isn't Benjamin's middle name. I just put it in there wrong. I am updating webpages anyway.
