Hi to all! I am new to this particular list. My name is Darlene WEBB-NOWELS. My family line hails from Macon, Noxubee Co., MS. Prior to that, they were in Aliceville, Pickens CO., AL and prior to that, somewhere in Virginia. I can trace my line back definitively to an Amanda who was the wife of Enoch WEBB. That Amanda was born in 1830/40 and possibly may have had the maiden name of STARR. This research has proven difficult as we are African-Americans and our paper trail can prove to be quite elusive. Recurring family names include Lorenzo, Warren, Amanda, Enoch, Sydney, Burt, Willis, and Ruffin/Rufus...If any of this sounds familiar, please write to me. I absolutely would love to share. Any info is pertinent. Thanks. thank you, dwnowels --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Movies - coverage of the 74th Academy Awards

Hello All.... I don't know how many people watch worldly news. Have you all been keeping up with the Tri-State Creamatory in Walker County Ga? Where the owner had not been creamating his bodies... They have found over three hundred bodies around the creamatory. 100 and something identified. The man has over 250 counts of I don't know what against him. Some people in Tennessee have also had problems and are suing. The thing is, if you have people or ancestors buried in the cemetery - I wonder if they would really be our ancestors buried there. This is a troublesome and grose story i have every heard of. It's just absurd for someone to do this sort of thing to someone. Also they have found out that the creamatory their equipment and all had been working. So what is his answer and why did he do it? Who knows. Crazy People..... This had been going on for over 10 years or more. Paige Roberts

Just a head's up -- many of the settlers in this area were from, and identified with, Virginia. Deeds and marriages were frequently recorded in Washington Co, VA. I have this stuck in the back of my mind for some reason..... =) Paige Roberts I descend from John Webb, Pleasant Webb, Benjamin Webb... (Wilkes County GA) 1700 - 1900 Virginia to Ga
I descend from Moses Webb, Sr., father of Hannah 1797-1854; John 1801-unk; Benjamin 1806-1855; Moses, Jr. 1806-unk; Mary 1808-unk; Washington 1813 - unk. The following is a time line for Moses, Sr. I thought perhaps this might be of help to some who have submitted queries pertaining to John and Benjamin Webb. 1755-56 - born Berks Co PA 1770-71 - enlisted at Reading PA bef 1783 - moved with his father to Holston River TN area bef 1796 - moved to Eutaw Springs SC 1796 - settled near Mammoth Cave KY 1800 - Green Co KY 1818 - Overton Co TN 1820 - Cumberland Co KY 1831 - TN 1832 - Morgan Co IL This timeline was created from information contained in Moses' Rev. War app. and from the following information given in "The Patriots at Kings Mountain" by Robby Gilmer Moss, who wrote, " While residing in Reading, PA, Moses Webb enlisted at age 14 or 15 years as a drummer under Capt. Noyle and was engaged in recruiting. During this service he was in the battles at Germantown and White Plains. Soon after this service he moved with his father to the Holston River in North Carolina (later Tennessee). He joined Col. Shelby and was in the battle at Kings Mountain. Thereafter he moved to Eutaw Springs, South Carolina. He was a sergeant in a horse troop under Capt. McKelvey and Col. Mayham and was in the engagements at Santee, at Simmermens, and at Tazwell Point. Hannah Sevier was his daughter. He was allowed a pension on his application exc. 16 Sept. 1831 while residing in Tennessee. In 1832 he was residing in Morgan Co. Illinois." My great-great-great-grandmother was Hannah Sevier, referred to above. She was a widow by 1820 and in Sept. 1825 she married Elmond Brazee (aka as Breeze) in Ralls Co MO. They moved to Kelso, Cowley Co, WA where she died in June 1854. She and Elmond are both buried in Catlin Cemetery in Kelso. Sheridan
