    1. Anne regarding DNA.
    2. Hello Anne, I am sure you read my line. I am the gg-grand-daughter of Elisha WEBB. I have a question on the DNA test. First of all, if I or my brother were to take it even though we do not carry the Webb surname wouldn't the test still pick up the female lineage of the family? This is my understanding. If so, then would it not make sense to take the MDNA for the maternal lines that are documented in this long family line? I appreciate your input on this. Thank you, Mary Wyatt

We'll probably have lots to tell each other. Dear Chuck, I'm glad you enjoyed my post, but that's not my line. That's the group of folks related to Henry "Hal" Webb of VA. My line has, like yours, different DNA. I am unaware of any documentation cementing William Webb of Virginia back to his family in England, so if you have some I would appreciate your sharing it with me. I have been trying to trace down the origin of the stories connecting WEBB lines which have different DNA. When I have finished, I hope to have an article in the WEBB Surname DNA Project Newsletter on this subject. As always, we are delighted you are part of our Project! Anne Webb Nelson

    2. After all of my years of researching Webb's I am sure that I decend from Elisha Webb. 1850 census West Div Anderson SC lists Elisha Webb age 43 b SC wife Nancy 35 SC Sarah C 16 SC Elijah 12 SC, JAMES W 3 SC 1870 census shows Elisha Webb 63 SC NJ SC ES 33 SC JW 22 SC 1880 census Hickory Flat Cherokee GA shows Nancy Webb 72 b SC Elijah 43 SC (he is listed as no arm and no occupation) next door is James SC wife Franny 19 GA Laura 3 SC 1900 census Calhoun Co AL Piedmont lists James W Webb b 1841 SC, Francis, 1858 GA Laura J b GA William J 1874GA Addie b 1875 GA Addie 1875 GA Ody b 1888 GA ARTHUR b 1891 GA Lovella 1892 GA Jack 1893 GA Thomas 1894 GA Claudie 1898 GA Wilimena E daughter in law b 1883 GA. I find the family in 1910 living in Carroll Co GA with James W Webb SC Wife Francis GA now this gets interesting. Judge L is living a few doors down with wife and children. OK, now this puts my grandfather ARTHUR (who was arrested in Carroll Co GA in 1910 twice for shooting at someone with intent to kill and for carrying a concealed pistol) there in Carroll Co The two men that I hunted for so long that posted his bond twice once for $100 and another for $300 and must have hired his lawyer were JL and JW WEBB. So, I have finally placed the three men together. It was Judge L and James W the brother and father of Arthur that put out all this money. I found these records of arrest in the Carroll Co courthouse. My grandmother ADA divorced ARTHUR in 1913 I have these records also and also their marriage record for 1907 CARROLL Co GA. My mother Helen Louise Webb was born 1909 in POLK CO GA she was the only child from this marriage. Another clue is that Arthur had a sister that was mentioned to me by my mother's half sister called MISS ELLIE I believe this is the sister Lovella. I finally feel that part of this long mystery is solved. Now I have to go through the process of elimation on what happened to my grandfather which I have many records to still go back though. I do need the maiden name of Fransic (Franny) the mother of Arthur. I am sure I am right finally. Any input or help on this family will be greatly recieved. Thanking all you list members who have put up with me all these years and have helped too. Mary Wyatt

    3. Dear Anne Ireally enjoyed your detailed letter revealing your Webb line. We'll probably have lots to tell each other. Let me start with my 40th gr.grandfather who was Sir Henry Lawrence Webb, born 1350,Dorcestershire.England. His 15th gr.grandson named William Webb, immagrated to America(virginia) in 1587 20 generations later I entered the picture. Believe it or not, I actually have the names of all my Webb fathers all the way back to Henry. I think it's so interesting that none of my children seem to have any interest in all my geneology. I have 4 daughters + 11 grandchildren AND live happily with my wife of many years, lol, Charles Webb Becken, Chuck

    3. Yes, thank you very much. I would very much appreciate that. I'm a little bewildered by two separate sets of parents and ancestors presented on the differing boards, for Henry "Hal" Webb. I tried to double check all my records last night from my dad on back, and only ended up being totally confused. I will be glad to reimburse you for your copies and mailing.
