Michael and everyone There is a website that has unbelievable amounts of records on it, including land grants for NC, KY, VA, and TN. Do some exploring on this site; use the VA site also; found things for NC in it. http://members.tripod.com/~records_searcher/index.html Michael--I will go check in our library hopefully tomorrow and see what I can find. I live in Cocke Co. TN, and we have a lot of the books on marriages, land grants, etc. Most of this area was originally Greene Co. TN and also part of the time known as "The State of Franklin." There is a book out "Tribe of Jacob" about the family of Jacob Weaver. His line of Weavers came from the Palatinate, into VA, and into the NC/TN area and settled in the area of Washington Co, TN, and Wytheville, VA, and John came into Dry Creek, now Weaverville, NC. There were in these family groups other families from the Palatinate of Germany, named Biffle, Henckel. Many came into PA, and because land was gone went into Rowan Co. NC. Many fought in the Revolution. After about 1782 a group went into the Elizabethton, Kingsport area of TN and some stayed in VA, and others moved around among these. Many of them were given land grants in TN about 1782-1790 but were in VA or Rowan Co. NC when they received these. Donna Nichols
