To our List- Tonite on our local TV news, in Oklahoma, they ran a special about a small town just east of us. One of the local High School Teacher, sponsored or chaperoned a project to clean up the area, the stones and fix stones if possible, in the local cemetery. Since most of the students in the project had ancestors in the cemetery, they also completed as much as possible on their family tree. A great deal was gleaned by many of them. One of the girls ancestors had walked the trail of tears. As I watched the program with great interest I thought how great it would be if we could get more school projects, properly chaperoned, to do this. I believe I will write the teacher and suggest she also have them do an inventory of the cemetery and submit to the genealogical society in that county. Perhaps some of you know educators you could pass this idea onto.
