As an FYI, online auction houses like eBay can be a good resource for buying genealogy items - in case you are not familiar with e-Bay, you must register to use their services - registration is free. There is no charge from eBay for you to bid on any active auction. e-Bay does charge the sellers a listing fee & a small percentage based on the final auction price. Use keywords like "family history" or "gene*logy" (you'd be amazed at how often this word is spelled as geneology) to search for genealogy items. To search, go to http://pages.ebay.com/aw/search.html Before bidding on an item, review the seller's feedback - this is the number in parentheses next to their userid - generally if the userid has feedback over 100, I no longer check it (but until you feel comfortable, check the feedback) - that means at least 100 different users have made positive comments about that user. To seewhat a feeback file looks like, you can look at mine as an example: http://cgi2.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=leanne If a seller has no/low feedback & requires payment by MO, avoid bidding on that auction. If an auction is no graphic & the description is hazy, ask questions of the seller - if they do not answer or do not answer to your satisfaction, avoid bidding on that auction. I have found a few treasures on eBay, mostly non-genealogy - I am a packrat - er - collector of various themes - old dolls, Ford Mustang, chihuahua, Nancy Drew/Cherry Ames/Judy Bolton...But, I recently got a cool old book about Alsace-Lorraine which is the region my LUTHER ancestors occupied before they moved to the colonies circa 1750. If you plan to sell on auctions, take a look at my auction tips page at http://www.geocities.com/~fannincounty/auction-tips.html Happy bidding & selling....Warning: eBay is ADDICTIVE!!!!
