    1. [WEAVER-L] William Hunt WEAVER married abt. 1874 in LA cramsay1@aol.com
    2. I am searching for the name of my gggrandmother. William Hunt Weaver m. ? abt. 1874 in Grant or Winn Parish, LA. They had a daughter, Ollie Mae b. 1876 in Grant Parish, LA and a daughter Alcia b. 1878 in Grant Parish. She died during the birth of Alcia so the girls did not know their mother. I understand they lived with grandparents for several years after their mother's death. William Hunt married an Amy in 1880 and they had a daughter Jessie in 1881. They then moved to Limestone County, TX where he died in 1928. William Hunt was b. 16 June 1848 in AL. He was the son of William Ross b. 7 November 1822 in AL and Malinda Hunt b. 21 June 1827 in AL. They both died in Grant Parish, LA. I do have more information on the Weavers. Please, if anyone has any information or suggestions, please let me know. She was in the family between the 1870 and 1880 census and the marriage records for that time period have burned. Can someone please help me?!? Charlotte

    3. I am new to this list so bear with me. I have recently run across the father of my great great grandmother. His name was Henry Weaver, b around 1810 in New York. He married Elizabeth last name unknown. Henry and Elizabeth had the following children: Mary Martha, b 1833 New York Sarah A, b 1836 New York Stephen J b 1843 New York Elizabeth b 1845 New York Anabell b 1848 Michigan Ira W b 1853 I found this family on the 1850 Census in Berrien Co, Michigan.....Since the birthplaces are shown, they moved there between 1845-1850. Again they are on the 1860 Niles, Berrien Co, Michigan Census. Sometime prior to 1880, they moved to Erath Co, Texas. I'm not sure which ones moved there, however, I do know that Mary Martha Weaver married Abner W. Townsend in 1850, Berrien Co, Michigan. (I have their original marriage certificate) I also know that a sister, Anabell Weaver married ???? Drew and lived in Hamilton Co, Texas, by 1885...Stephen J. Weaver and his wife and daughter are on the 1880 Erath Co, Texas census. Would be happy to share any of the items I have.....I found autograph books dated 1880-1885 with personal notes in their handwriting. These books are great. Sure hope someone might connect to Henry....and get me to the correct county in New York. Thanks, Joan

    3. Hi list, Coming out of lurk mode to respond to Kathy Hoeldke's post about the family of Johann Anton Weber and Anna Bauman. My line is through their son Jacob and I was excited to see Kathy's post of another sibling. Here are some descendants from Jacob through those who settled in Northeast Indiana. Another name that seems to travel with the Weavers is Shambaugh. Two of my Indiana Weaver brothers married Shambaugh sisters. Anyone with information on these families is more than welcome to contact me. Harold Williams, the second Weaver brother married to a Shambaugh sister had twelve children. 1. [WEAVER-L] Webers
    2. Lawrence K. Weber, Jr., SIOR
    3. Kathhy Hoeldke's list of Webers from Switzerland is most interesting. It is my understanding that the name is as common in Germany as Smith here and that there are thousands of them from all over Germany, Holland and Switzerland. I do believe her JACOB6 may have been the Jacob I to whom Aline Nicolls refers in her book, "Weaver Families of the Mohawk and St. Lawrence River Valleys." Written and published by Mrs. E.F. Nicolls of Victoria, BC, B.A., M.Ed, this excellent work is a product of nine years of intensive research into the Palatine migration and the history of our family. It is a valuable addition to the library of anyone researching Weaver/Weber families, or those others mentioned below. I have found it invaluable in my research in learning of Nicolaus, my original immigrant ancestor.. Many of the Weavers/Webers were Patriots in the Revolution, remaining in the Mohawk Valley, but a number were Loyalists (Tories) who formed the nucleus of the large Weaver families of Ontario, Michigan, North Dakota and the western states and Canada. The heritage of many families is set forth in this valuable work, in descending order of appearance: Weaver/Weber/Webber, Bellinger, Johnston, Hanes, Smith, McCurdy, Edick/Ittig, Frank, Pearce, Rodgers, Meyer(s), Harter, Dachsteder/Docksteader, Alguire, Bowman/Bauman, Mills, Snyder, Archer, Marselius and others. The book tracks the Weavers in their travels from the Tar Camps in the 1710's through Schoharie, Schenectady and German Flatts to their homesteads in Burnetsfield, Herkimer, Deerfield, Utica and other towns in the Mohawk Valley. The post-Revolutionary trail follows both Patriot and Tory families into the western States and Canadian provinces. In her subsequent eleven years of research, Aline has found many other Weber lines, notably those of Jacob I who moved to Pennsylvania. If you will write to her (snail mail only) she will respond. The book is offered at the price of $20.00 US plus $2.00 postage and handling. You may send your check or money order with this page to: Mrs. Aline F. 1. [WEAVER-L] Dates/state/county PLEASE!
    2. Judi Assony
    3. Dear Weaver Researchers, I'm getting frustrated with a lot of the posts on this list. A recent post is rather typical, listing data of a Weaver line who lived in Washington County. Washington County in what state????? Do you realize how many States have a Washington County?? There are many many other counties that may not "sound" like they would be in other States but they are, besides even if they aren't who among us have all the counties of each state memorized? You do? okay tell me really fast what state is Deschutes county in? Sometimes the post only mentions a town or township, still without a State named, hey we aren't psychic! Another really frustrating thing is that so many posts don't have any dates at all! So, okay you don't exactly when ggg grandfather was born, you probably can figure out which century he was born in and probably guess-ta-ment a 20- 30 year probability within that century, so maybe you could at least say b. abt. 1820. Maybe you are working in the 18th century, but I have seen posts on this list from people who are still stuck in the 20th century, don't assume everyone on this list is searching the same time period you are. We all tend to get really intense in our searches, and don't stop to realize how many people subscribe to a list like this, and guess what? if you are searching in the South, or PA other people have ancestors in other areas and really don't have time to read a 3 page post only to find out they have no idea where your people lived, because you failed to either mention it at all, or forgot to add what state it was in, or what time frames were involved. (If you are really nice you would put this in your subject line, i.e. Subject: Peter Weaver VA circa 1820) This list and others like it serve two purposes to help us find our missing ancestors and to share what we do have. Which brings me to another item, that I haven't the foggiest idea what the statistics are; This is, family lines that only mention the direct ancestors of the posters line. 1. Is this because that is all they are interested in, so that is all they recorded even though the info on siblings were available, but they tossed the rest? 2. Is this because they understandably don't want to type in "everything" they have? What can be done? 1. If you don't have anything more on siblings etc., say so in your post, and it will save you getting mega useless inquiries. If you do have more info on siblings, please be kind enough to state you have more info you could supply via e-mail. P.S. to the last paragraph, by collecting sibling info, you are more likely to find other related researchers who have a common goal of researching further back, which means you can further help each other, but you will never know they exist if you are only recording your direct line. Since I have ranted on this long, I think I should also mention to readers of this list to follow these guide lines if you are going to e-mail a private message to a poster to the list. Don't just give them a name and no other data and expect a lead to your quest. Remember WHO, WHAT, WHERE and WHEN. I have 2 Smith lines, and I have run out of fingers and toes counting the number of inquiries I have gotten from people who are looking for a John Smith, no dates, let alone a century, and no places at all! These people are so pathetic I really don't want to answer them at all, but my upbringing won't let me. I have been using the internet for the past 4 years doing genealogy research, and I have to state in closing the nicest people on the internet are genealogist! Happy Holidays to all Judi Assony

    3. Weaver from Boyd Crumrine (History of Washington County, 1882) : West Bethlehem Twp John Weaver, Adam Weaver, and Peter Weaver were brothers of German descent who came to this township at an early date. Two tracts of land were warranted to Adam. The first was "Long Green," containing three hundred and ninety-nine acres, situate on a branch of Daniels Run. The second tract adjoined the first, was warranted to him Sept. 25, 1789, and surveyed June 24, 1790, under the title of "Short Green." The property of Adam Weaver was left by him to his wife and children at his death, which occurred in 1820. The sons were Daniel and Abraham Weaver, and the daughters were Catharine and Ann Weaver. From their marriages numerous descendants have come, among whom are Adam G., Solomon, Jacob, and Daniel Weaver. Levi Matthews and Daniel Greenlee are also descendants of Adam Weaver, and they, with Adam G. Weaver, now own the original settlers property. John Weaver, who resides near Hillsborough, in this township, is also of the family. Adam G. Weaver is a prominent member of the "Fairview Methodist Episcopal Church,: and is the class-leader of that society. He has been married twice. His present wife was Miss Hill.
