Here is an excerpt from the Ancestry daily email. I tried NAIL and searched the Landing Reports of Aliens. It is wonderful...if only I could find some of my ancestors! The scanned images are slow loading because they are BIG, but they are worth the wait. Annette netandmike@nni.com NEW DATA ADDED TO NAIL (NARA ARCHIVAL INFORMATION LOCATOR) <<<>>><<<>>><<<>>><<<>>><<<>>><<<>>><<<>>><<<>>><<<>>> ======================================================= The new additions to NAIL for the month of January, 1999 have been posted and are now available for searching at the National Archives and Records Administration's website. New documents include: ~ United States District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Landing Reports of Aliens, 1798-1828 "3 multi-page volumes have been digitized from this series. The digitized documents relate to Section 2 of an Act passed on April 14, 1802, which required all persons who were aliens and desired naturalization to report to the Clerk of the Court. They were to provide the Clerk with certain information and were then given a certificate of this registration. Information requested was: name of alien, race, place of birth, age, nationality, occupation, date and place of arrival in the United States, and the reason for entering the United States. . . To retrieve the 3 multi-page documents, select the 'NAIL Digital Copies Search Form' and enter 'Landing Reports of Aliens" in the first Keywords box. ~ Naturalization Petition and Record Books, 1943-1978 "327 documents from this series have been digitized. The digitized documents relate to naturalization records created by the United States District Court, Sixth Division of Minnesota (Fergus Falls). Among the digitized items are declarations of intention, petitions for naturalization, certificates of loyalty, and certificates of arrival. Information about a petitioner includes his/her name, residence, nationality, date and place of birth, date of admission into the U.S. for permanent residence, marital status, and number of children." ~ Selected Naturalization Petitions, Declarations, and Oaths, 1798-1861 "14 multi-page documents from this series created by the United States District Court, Southern District of Georgia, Savannah Division, have been digitized. Naturalization records document an individual's intention and petition to the United States requesting citizenship. The three phase naturalization process is then completed by the oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States. Additional information such as applicant's age, occupation, and arrival information is often found in these records. . . To retrieve the 14 multi-page documents select the 'NAIL Digital Copies Search Form' and enter 'Naturalization petition' in the first Keywords box, and 'Savannah' in the second Keywords box." ~ Indian Scout Muster Rolls "One multi-page document has been digitized. This alphabetically arranged index lists the name, enlistment number, month and year of registration for Arizona Indian scouts. This information may be used in conjunction with National Archives Microfilm Publication M233, Register of Enlistments in the US Army, 1798-1914, rolls 70 and 71 to locate the enlistment register entry for each man. The index was compiled to verify scouts' service for eligibility of pensions made available by Congress starting in 1928.". . . To retrieve the digitized document, select the 'NAIL Digital Copies Search Form' and enter 'Arizona Indian Scout' in the first Keywords box. ~ Intelligence Division Reports on Passengers, 1918-1919 "11 documents from this series have been digitized. The series consists of brief reports circulated by Customs Intelligence concerning foreign nationals experiencing problems with passports or other papers; foreign nationals under suspicion of being sympathetic to Imperial Germany during World War I; American citizens wishing to leave or enter the United States, or who have died or disappeared; and any other "suspicious characters. . . To retrieve the 11 digitized images, select the 'NAIL Digital Copies Search Form' and enter 'suspicious enemy aliens' in the first Keywords box." In the 1850 Nicholas Co. KY census, George P. WEAVER, b. 1810, KY, is listed with his wife Joanna (HARDWICK) , b. 1813, KY, d. 1899, IN. and children: 1. John H., b. 1834, KY 2. James P. , b. 1837, KY 3. Sarah E., b. 1838, KY 4. Rebecca Kathryn, b. 1843, IN, d. 1912, IN (my Ggradnmother) 5. William E. , b. 1845, IN, d. IN 6. Samuel, b. 1846, KY 7. Martha, b. 1849, KY 8. Mary Jane, b. 1853, KY (listed in 1860 Jackson Co., IN census) I have never been able to find a marriage record for George and Joanna. I have strong suspicions that Joanna was his second wife. I cannot document the birth of Rebecca and William E. in Indiana, but I have the biths listed in HER bible, so I am pretty sure it is true. I have been unable to find George Weaver before 1850 KY and after 1860 IN. I did find a BLM record of 160 acres in Jackson Co., IN dated 1858. Also, in the 1850 Nicholas Co., KY census, is listed a Reuben WEAVER with wife Cinthia (Hardwick) who was the sister of Joanna (wife of George). They also moved to IN, but to Shelby County. Anyone recognize these families? MaDark

Thanks to Annete Dehoffe for the URL for the database at U of M. It is a very interesting site. From: John Weaver Searching Weavers and Jordan>> FL,GA,VA, ENG
Here is a searchable site at the University of Michigan that may be of interest to some. It contains books and periodicals from the 19th century that have been scanned - you don't see a transcription, you see the real thing. One of the items I looked at was an Ohio Gazetteer and Business Directory for 1861 - very interesting! http://www.umdl.umich.edu/moa/index.html Annette DeHoff netandmike@nni.com (Currently searching for Jeffries in VA>NC>TN>AL>OH>IN)
I descend from Johann/Frederick and Abigail ( Shiver) Weaver and their son George . Also spelled Wever and Weber. There was a Frederick Weaver living in Pilesgrove , Salem County , N.J. between 1773-1778 as shown in the Revolutionary War Census . As far as I know he had the following children : Henry , Barbary , Abigail , George , Adam , Fredrick , Catherine , Hannah , Lowese and Elizabeth. Does anyone know if he owned the land he was living on ? Does anyone know when he married Abigail Shiver ? Does anyone have any information about him ? Any help would be greatly appreciated . Thanks , Anna

My ggrandparents, on my mother's side, were Leman A. Weaver and Hazel Ada Murgittroyd. They were married around 1917, in Schenectady, NY, and then moved to Ohio. Leman's fathers name was Peter Weaver, Hazel's father was John Herbert Murgittroyd. If these names connect with any other researchers please respond, any info would be greatly appreciated. Wes Nutter
