    3. I am researching the WEAVER family from NY. My grandfather was Leman H. M. Weaver born in, NY in 1922, his parents were Leman H. Weaver and Hazel Murgitroyd. Leman H. was born in Schenectady NY in 1896, and his parents were Peter Weaver and Sarah Nichols. They were born sometime in the 1870's. Both Peter and his son Leman were carpenters. Leman and Hazel made to move into Ohio after my grandfather Leman M. was born. I have just begun looking for information. I thought if these names may connect with someone on the list. Thanks for your time. Wes Nutter

    3. I hope the following will be of interest to someone on the list. "FRANK WEAVER, Baker and Confectioner Located in the Crass Building, fronting on Second avenue, is the bakery and confectionery establishment of Mr. Frank Weaver. This business was established in 1892, and from that day to this has ever been an important factor in its exclusive line of trade. A general delivery wagon is operated and the same is of great convenience to the large custom supplied and a winning card for the house. Bread, cakes, pies, etc., are always plentifully in stock. This house also carries a splendid assortment of confections, fruits, and this department, too, enjoys a good trade. Mr. Frank Weaver, proprietor, has followed the bakery business for ten years, he is therefore no novice. He is a Pennsylvanian and came to New Decatur in 1887, and has made the town a good citizen." ------Souvenir Edition of the New Decatur Advertiser of New Decatur, Alabama dated Saturday, Dec. 11, 1897 (page 29) Some of the above seems oddly worded but I have carefully compared what I have typed to the original document and that's what it says!

He married ANNA MARIE BADER b.Saucon twsp, Northampton Co, PA. ANNA MARIE died one year later. The children were farmed out. JEFF DURFFY took in WILLIAM, CLARA and HATTIE (one source I have shows that HATTIE went by the name DURFFY) In 1888-1889 WILLIAM went to DECATUR, Burt Co, NE. the rest of the children followed except HATTIE. FRANKLIN remarried and went to DECATUR, NE about 1909 but stayed just one year before returning to OSBORNE, KS where he died about 1917-1918. FRANKLIN was in the Union Army during the Civil War and was wounded in the face and leg. He walked with a cane. You must add your name and address at the bottom of the page. Please invest the time and the 32 cents for the stamp and hopefully we can put these leeches out of business once and for all. If that postmaster is deluged with complaints perhaps something will happen. You also have my permission to forward this Email to all of your surname lists and genealogy friends as a warning about the book AND a plea to write letters to the postmaster in Bath, Ohio. The Letter is attached. If you want to add to it, fine. As far as I know Halberts have been working out of Bath, Ohio for more than 30 years. I have a copy in my hands right now and I am telling you they are worthless to the genealogist and to the common person. There is no data in the book that you cannot find in a library or phone book in a few short minutes. These people have been operating out of Bath, Ohio for years and you know it. I'll bet you have had hundreds (perhaps thousands) of complaints about Halberts and this person named Leroy C. Boyd in the past. I'll bet Leroy Boyd does not even exist. These people have been leeching money from unsuspecting family oriented roots seeking people for years, even decades and it is time to stop them. Do you have any connection with this company (Halberts) or with Leroy C. Boyd with address of: 3687 Ira Road, Bath, Ohio? I appreciate your honesty. OK now...behave yourselves...This list is for WEAVER topics not humor - unless you are passing along a WEAVER tidbit, please refrain from sending a totally off-topic mesage to the list. Now, about the attributions...the original poster (to GRAY-L) did not give credit to the gatherer - I'm guessing they also received it from somewhere since I have seen it before many times - please refrain from posting information without attributions unless it was data gathered by you personally. > And certainly graveyard humor is appropriate to genealogists. After all, don't > all of our friends and family think us weird for spending our weekends > exploring old cemeteries instead of at the beach or something?<g> That is true & there is a list on rootsweb specifically created as an outlet for tickling our funny bone - to subscribe send a message to mailto:GENHUMOR-D-request@rootsweb.com (digest mode) or mailto:GENHUMOR-L-request@rootsweb.com (mail mode) with SUBSCRIBE as the only text. A similar ML is the folklore list to subscribe send a message to mailto:FOLKLORE-d-request@rootsweb.com (digest mode) or mailto:FOLKLORE-l-request@rootsweb.com (mail mode) with SUBSCRIBE as the only text. > As a members of many mail lists, I learned a long time ago that they put the > delete key there for a reason... use it. Many of our list members are on digest mode. Please consider this when you say just delete it - the digest subscribers would have to delete the entire digest & there may have been a message they wanted to save. And, finally to keep this list moving smoothly, let me tell you the listowner (moi) prefers that there be only *on-topic* messages - that is related to WEAVER/WEVER/WEBBER/WEBER or any other spelling variation.
