Dear subscribers, Most of you will have seen the message posted last month that included the obituary for Daryl Lytton, who has been serving as the administrator of this mailing list. He also maintained the web site associated with this list, which is located at http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~deschart/. That web site is currently in danger of being shut down because of complaints received about the posting of details about living individuals. If any of you would like to take over the administration of this mailing list AND take over the management of the deschart web site, please send an email to listmaster@rootsweb.com. Since the focus of this mailing list has been the notification of new descendancy submissions sent to the web site, if there is no one interested in doing both functions, this mailing list will be discontinued. Best regards, Gerhard RootsWeb Listmaster
It is with great sadness that I pass along this information: Obituary for Daryl J. Lytton Las Vegas Daryl John Lytton, age 62, passed away in Las Vegas, Nev., on July 31, 2011, after a brief bout with cancer. Born May 24, 1949, in Chicago, Ill., to parents Ann Lucas Lytton and Amos H. Lytton, he grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Madison, Wis.; and graduated West High in 1967. With international friendships, he was a leading genealogist who pioneered computer tracking of genealogies. Decades were devoted to studying his family tree and extended Lytton genealogies. Intellectually gifted and creative, Daryl also began unique businesses, including one that sold the first computer networks. Daryl was personable, enjoyed helping others, and was a good friend to many. His parents; and older brother, David Lytton (Clark Bordner Jr.) predeceased him. He is survived by sister, Diane Lytton (husband, Rev. Dr. Thomas Fritz) of Appleton; son, David Newton; cousins, Wade, Bruce and Karl Lucas of Ohio; and nieces and nephews. He wished to thank Kathy and David Jamison for their help during his recent illness. There will be no formal memorial service; burial will be at Twelve Corners Cemetery, Town of Center, Wis. For questions on obituaries, call 608-283-7600 or email obituaries@madison.com. Read more: http://madison.com/obit/205864#ixzz1V82O0QTf
Just thought I'd let you all know about the new "Trails to the Past" project at http://www.TrailsToThePast.org which is set up with States and Counties. The main difference between TTTP and the USGenWeb is that TTTP has no politics. RootsWeb is setting up TTTP State and County sites for us, but you don't have to have your site hosted by RW. If you would like to host a State or County, just let us know. Some states haven't been adopted yet, but if you would like to host a county within a state that hasn't been adopted, we will set up the State site so you can adopt counties. TTTP is also interested in any Special Projects you may have. The only rules TTTP has are your home page needs to have one of our logos on it and a link to the TTTP home page. You have the choice of being subscribed to our main discuss list, or an announcements-only list. RootsWeb is also setting up TTTP state lists for our State Administrator's who request them. Daryl

Yes, since he was in his 80's pre-1910 is probably right for his death date. Yes, it is the Shlebina in Shelby County, MO. It seems that most of the family stayed in Shelbina most of their lives. I think I'll try contacting the historical society there. Maybe even the court house in hopes of find a bit more info. This came from another reply to my request: U.S. Civil War Soldiers, 1861-1865_ (http://www.ancestry.com/search/db.aspx?dbid=1138&enc=1) about Wm. A. Blair Name: Wm. A. West Virginia did not become a state until 1863 so prior to that it would have been Virginia, and there is a Parkersburg, WVa. I checked the Missouri death certificate index online and could not find a listing for either William or Cynthia so assuming they died prior to 1910. ? On the Marion County (Hannibal), MO USGenWeb site I did find a death date for Charles L BLAIR. ?He died 4 Apr 1901 in Hannibal and buried Shelbina. ?I am assuming that the Shelbina mentioned is the town of Shelbina in Shelby County, MO. ?The Shelby County cemeteries did not have any online links, at least not on USGenWeb. ?Since Charles was buried there, it is possible his parents are also and possibly his siblings. Do you know if William served during the Civil War? ?Due to the fact that he was in Missouri in 1860 I am assuming he would have served there and there are about 4 or 5 William Blair's in Ancestry's Civil War Collection that served in Missouri. ?If he served, and received a pension, his pension packet may contain a marriage record, hopefully indicating Cynthia's maiden name. ?It more than likely wouldn't have information about their parents, but her maiden name may give you a jump-start. Here is a link to vital records for West Virginia if you don't already have it. ?Records go from about 1820's to about 1950's - give or take as some older and some newer. Interesting, This is the same year I just found on the 1900 Census for William and Cynthia's marriage. It shows that they have been married for 53 years which would put the date at 1847. Bye the way, is Parkersburg, in Virginia or West Virginia? You know I this one as well. I even followed it a bit on Ancestry.com but the "Y" in his middle name and no link to Alexander Mcdonald mad me stay with William A Blair.
