Randy and others, I believe most genealogy programs create a true "gedcom" file, as well as some other formats. Family Tree Maker, for example, has ".GED" as one file type it will export. That's what I want...a .GED file. If we'll all do it in that format, most any genealogy program will be able to read it. It doesn't matter to me whether the file includes only Franklin County lines or someone's entire database. It would save space on the CD if only the Franklin lines were included, but a lot of people might not know how to do that and wouldn't send their file because of it. I'd rather have to make 2 CD's than to have somebody left out! So the short answer is...if you know how to create a .GED file with only your Franklin County lines on it, that would be wonderful. Otherwise, send your whole file. The $5.00 will cover our direct expenses, I think. We're not trying to make any money from it. If we need more, we'll ask! Thanks for your thoughts.
