Hi, Thank you.. I got quite a few responses.. but I'm still puzzled. Maybe you could help? in the census the family I am interested in, is living in Abington Township, Wayne Co., IN. in the 1840 census. I need to know what town Abington township actually became, as the diocese which might have the record isn't listed by a township.... Ok maybe since you do the mailing list I could list more information John Graves and family moved to abington township in 1839, listed in 1840 census, in Jan of 1850 his daughter Mary Ann Graves marries John Gilpin in Wayne Co., IN... marriage records show this. I have reciently gotten the information that they were married by a Catholic missionary. I can find nothing on John Gilpin prior to his marriage, since there is a good posibility that they were married by a Priest, there should be some recording of the information in the church records... I had thought John Gilpin was quaker, if this was so then he would have had to convert to actually marry her.. Right? wouldn't there be a record of his information? Possibly, where he lived, his parentage? something that might help in finding the next generation? By 1850 census John and Mary are living in Hamilton Co., IN where they lived until death.
