Twsp History Dalton twsp chapter 6 page 84 Dalton twsp is located in the nw portion of the county . It ws formed from Perry twsp . in 1847 . The land was nearly all west of the ' twelve mile purchase ' & consequently was not ready for sale to settlers before 1822 . Among the earliest settlers was SETH MILLS , JOSEPH DAVIS , HENRY THORNBURGH ect . Most of the settlers came from N. Carolina , Tenn , & Pennsylvania & many were Quakers . The first store in the twsp was kept by AARON MILLS . The town of Dalton was laid out 1827 or 1828 .
