hi betty i missed out on the information sent before, if you would outline it for me??? meanwhile i did some poking around in ancestry.com, familysearch.org, and genealogy.com. in the census: 1820 george springer is in wayne co, indiana with: 1 0 0 01 0 0 01 0 0 0 0 1 (and none after that last one) i did a search for the two surnames, Rowley and Raleigh, in this census for Wayne county and there were none of either, my thinking was perhaps one of those names would be nearby indicating which one it might be. a search for Nicy with both surnames brought nothing i thought connected, even tried just first name Nicy in all of indiana with again nothing that worked for me. in this 1820 census, on the same page as George, in this order were other springers: matthew, stephen, george and job. there is a george w. springer who married a jane conway 8-8-1841 in union county indiana a george springer married eleanor mattingly 9-2-1819 in perry co indiana assume someone sent you quaker information and that's where you got his birth year. i found the following in quaker information via genealogy.com: vol. i, page 514, new garden mm had stephen and sarah springer with children freelove (dau) b 6-14-1787, george b 7-12-1789, job b 9-2-1791, barnabas b 1-9-1793, abigail b 1-12-1796 and matthew b 3-13-1778. vol i, page 792 had the family again listed in new garden mm with addition of more children: elizabeth b 4-9-1800, stephen b 5-21-1802 and a death for stephen of 8-21-1805, sally b 8-23-1804 and william b 11-29-1809 in the 1830 census for wayne co and springers there were: dennis in new garden, barnabas, george, matthew d. and william in wayne, wayne co, indiana george springer was on page 46, roll 29 and had: males: 0 0 1 1 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 females:1 2 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 in 1840 there was only one george springer in 1840 and he was in jennings twp, fayette co, indiana. page 104 roll 79. males: 0 0 0 0 2 1 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 females: 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 several george's in 1850: brownsville, union co page 295 roll 176 -- this george estimated birth year was 1814 warren, marion co, page 368, roll 159 -- estimated birth year of 1834 lawrenceburg, dearborn co, page 272, roll 141 -- estimated birth year of 1848 orange, fayette co, page 258, roll 144 -- he appears to be son of Lorenzo Springer age 35 farmer born indiana, wife rachel age 29, son george age 10, thomas rees age 7, margaret rees age 8, viola rees age 6 and amanda springer age 1. would appear this was a 2nd marriage for both of them with rachel having married a rees previously. in my search for just the first name nacy i came across these which might prove interesting to research: Nacy Shelly age 50 in 1860 was in jackson, elkhart co, indiana -- she was born NC Nacy Stephens/Stevens age 55 in 1860 was in Jackson, Owen Co, indiana. -- she was born NC looking at these perhaps that George died and Nacy remarried? through the LDS site i found the following: george springer born 1834 (see 1850 census, marion co) was son of emmanuel springer and mary hash. emmanuel was born 4-30-1802 in PA. george w. springer b abt 1847 in rush co indiana (see 1850 census above, dearborn co) married hannah addison 10-30-1872 in rush co. george washington springer born 3-4-1845 in indianapolis married philetta victoria adams 7/1870. i found your old query for samuel springer b 1814 in SC and came across information at ancestry from a Pat Scott whose email is listed as <patricia_95667@yahoo.com> and should still be good as pages last updated dec 2004. show has Nicy's maiden name spelled RAWLEY and has her born 12-27-1791 in NC, also has children from George and Nicy listed. karen in CA >Hello again, >For those of you that offered lookups for George Washington Springer b1789. >I have a question about his wife; Nicy Raleigh/Rowley. >If you see the name of her father and the original spelling of her name it >would be most appreciated. >We think she was born in NC.
