    3. it's been suggested, and rightly so, smile, that i include some dates with my request. will do so. my husband's greatgreatgrandmother was Elizabeth Kinley. family told me she was born march 1836 in Indiana. i have found her marriage to John Tingle at the preble co, ohio web site as 1-28-1858. her grave stone is in the Bentonville, Fayette Co, Indiana cemetery and says birth was 1832 and death 1917. through the kindness of the wife of the caretaker of the bentonville cemetery, who went to the health department in connersville and looked up the death for me i learned that Elizabeth's father was Jonathan Kindley and mother was Hannah Pickett (also found as Piggott). In the Quaker records, Miami MM, i have found Jonathan, born 9-28-1808 is son of John Kindley (b 4-20-1788) and Betty (others have her as Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Wilson) b 10-10-1791. Jonathan's siblings were listed as Joel b 1811, Sarah b 1813, Elizabeth b 1815 and Ruth b 1817. So far I have not found a marriage for Jonathan Kindley and Hannah Pickett/Piggott nor have I found their other children, siblings to Elizabeth born 1832/1836 The Jonathan I find in the 1850 and 1860 census in Washington twp, Milton, Wayne Co lists wife as Margaret. In this 1850 census Jonathan is 40 which would make him born 1810 inOH, close enough to 1808. Margaret listed as 25 and born MD. as far as elizabeth goes, she was not with jonathan/Elizabeth in 1850 but this would appear to be her below: 1850 wayne co in TYPE IN Elizabeth HINDLEY John Kindley 28 ohio Betty 58 s.c. Elizabeth 16 in Henry Walden 14 lab. ind. it would appear Elizabeth was living with her grandmother Betty In the 1860 census Jonathan was age 52 so born 1808 which matches Quaker records, Margaret listed as 33 born PA. aged only 8 years and now born PA instead of MD. A site at Ancestry, Mark & Mariah's Family Tree, lists Margaret Briley as 1st wife of Jonathan Kindley. 2nd wife is Hannah Picket. Now, if Elizabeth was born 1836, and Jonathan's 1st wife Elizabeth was still living and with him in 1870 census, then Hannah isn't Elizabeth's mother?????????? in the 1860 census for Milton, Wayne Co John Tingle age 23, laborer, born DE with wife Elizabeth age 25 born IN. They have 10 month daughter Emma born IN. this would have Elizabeth born 1835, in the ballpark of 1832-1836. in the 1870 census for Milton, Wayne co. John is 35, now a carpenter, born DE, wife Elizabeth now age 35 so still born 1835 in IN. Children are Emma now age 11, Eva age 9, Mollie age 2, Minnie age 2, Betty Kinley age 70 born IN. Mary aka Mollie Tingle is my husband's ancestor, having married Vanlandingham Curtis. 1870 Wayne Co Ind has Betty Kinley age 79 born SC living with her son John. Mark and Mariah's information at Ancestry has a death date for Jonathan Kindley as 1868. so, now my questions become: 1) can anyone shed any light on Jonathan's wives, Margaret Briley and Hannah Pickett and marriage dates? 2) does anyone have anything else to help me sort this out? 3) any other children of Jonathan Kinley/Kindley besides Elizabeth? thanks karen (hoping i have all of this correct here.)
