    1. Will Abstracts
    2. Jim Boyce
    3. Can anyone on the list tell me if Will Abstracts exist for Wayne County? For years I have puzzled over my grandfather's name---Morgan McCoy ENDSLEY---which seems to have no family connection. Just last night I stumbled onto a Jane ENDSLEY and her daughter Nola M. in the 1880 Census for Center Twp., living with a Morgan McCOY!!! He was 62 at the time. He may well have died before 1900. A will for Mr McCoy might reveal exactly what his connection to my family was. I have no idea who the Jane ENDSLEY living with him might be!! Thanks for any help. Jim Boyce Pregnin, France ----- Original Message ----- From: Marsha McWilliams To: WAYNE_IN-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, November 05, 2002 9:53 PM Subject: STUART/MARTIN/STANLEY/BEESON Jehu STUART (1740-1827, NC), wife Sarah STANLEY, Quakers, are said to have had a daughter, Elizabeth, who married James MARTIN in 1784, Guilford Co, NC. Elizabeth was 'dismous' for marrying James. Robert Stuart (son of Jehu and bro. to Elizabeth) married Martha BEESON, 1793, NC. Martha was a sister to William Beeson who married Mary Martin (brother of James.) Wm. & Mary Beeson are said to have gone to Wayne Co in 1809. I cannot find them in Wayne Co on the 1810 census but there is a James MARTIN listed. Also, several members of the STUART family apparently went to Wayne Co. Is there anyone who is researching these families? I'm particularly interested in James & Elizabeth Martin. I have further info on these families that I'd be happy to share. Thanks. Marsha IL

    1. Coffin & others in Wayne Co.
    2. Elizabeth Coffin
    3. Hi! I am researching these Coffins in Wayne Co.and am happy to add their names to the list. This seems to be who I think I have found at this point. John COFFIN (b. 1778 in North Carolina) and his wife Abigail HOBBS Coffin (b. 1786 in North Carolina) are buried in Nettle Creek Cemetery, Wayne Co. They were Quakers and are in the Springfield, Wayne Co., Indiana Monthly Meeting Records. Their son John COFFIN (b. 1824 in North Carolina) and his wife Martha Delphina FENTRESS also are in the Springfield Records. They came from North Carolina as well. They moved from Indiana to Kansas and then Iowa. Apparently three of their children, Louisa Jane COFFIN, Abigail Sophrona COFFIN and Thomas Newton COFFIN were born in Indiana. I believe Thomas married ELiza STARBUCK. I welcome correspondence, corrections and will share what I have with others. Thanks, Elizabeth Coffin

    3. I believe there's a Starbuck St. in Whittier. At one time I lived and worked in Whittier. My boss's wife's maiden name was Hunnicutt and he told me that the first Quaker Meeting held in Whittier was on the front porch of the original Hunnicutt home (on Greenleaf Ave.) This was about 35 yrs ago. I often wonder if it's still there. I believe they were still Quakers, but can't remember where they went to Meeting (or is it called Church or something else now?) This is probably really a long-shot... do you know if your Susan Williams was from NC originally? Or, possibly Greene Co, OH? My ancestor's brother, Samuel Pavey, was in Wayne Co, IN for a short time (1818.) He had a sister, Mary "Polly" who was md. to a Levin Williams, but they divorced and the family apparently spread out. They were never Quakers that I've found yet, but they certainly did travel and live around them for years. I believe I did find 2 sons (Wm. & Samuel) who had moved (first) to Greene Co, OH, then to Grant Co, IN by 1850. 3. Hello Joe, I was interested in some of the surnames that you had listed. I am related to a Sarah Ann Addleman who married a James J. Alexander. Sarah Ann Addleman was born March 28, 1808 and she died April 8, 1848. I also wanted to mention the Addleman name because we are in the process of restoring an abandoned cemetery in Wayne County that has some Addlemans and also Starbucks buried in it. The cemetery is Mount Vernon Cemetery on Wallace Road in Franklin Township. To view the cemetery go to: http://www.geocities.com/brinatim/MountVernon.html I have not transcribed the cemetery yet but according to Beverly Yount's records there is a Martha (Kemp) Addleman, John C. Addleman and a Nancy Ann (Woods) Addleman. I'm pretty sure that they are related to my Sarah Ann Addleman but I can't remember how. The Starbucks that are buried there are Edward Sr. and Sarah Ann, which she was the dau. of Robert and Hannah (Addleman) Starbuck. Let me know if there are any connections to your family.
