    1. Wayne Cty Publications
    2. If I missed this in earlier conversations, please forgive me. I'm looking for someone who may have a copy of one of the following publications published by, I believe, the Wayne Cty Genealogical Society...to see if my surname is published before I purchase: Wayne Cty Probate Records: 1840-1844 Wayne Cty Generation Charts - Vol I (generation charts) Wayne Cty Generation Charts - Vol II Wayne Cty Generation Charts - Vol III Wayne Cty Cemetery Directory "Economy Times" Index The surname is CURTIS or CURTIS, first name James, wife Margaret. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks Bonnie

    3. My ancestors from Wayne Co, IN are Bowmans and Bells. John Bowman, Benjamin Bowman, Sr. m. Elizabeth Shideler, Benjamin Bowman, Jr. m. Mary M. Bell. Benjamin, Jr's brother David m. Mary's sister Ruth. Their parents were Thomas and Ruth Bell originally from Ashe Co, NC, according to the Wayne Co History. John Bowman arrived in Wayne Co via Frederick Co, MD, Bedford Co, PA and Montgomery Co, OH. Benjamin, Jr's son Aaron and grandson Samuel ended up in Huntington Co, IN. I know very little about the Bells and would love to hear from anyone who knows more. Also Elizabeth Shideler's father is in question. Most people agree he was George Adam Shideler, but whether Jr or Sr is the question. Sr would be the s/o John Shideler of Washington Co, PA and Jr would be his grandson. Any ideas out there? cbj

Family history or lore states Fanny's parents were killed in a horse & buggy accident when she was just an infant and the children were "farmed out". Fanny was taken by a couple who moved "West" to Chillicothe, OH in Ross Co. I found her on the 1850 Fed Census as a 15 yr-old living with and working for a Casad family in Preble Co, OH. She married Jonathan Overholtz in 1851 in Camden, Preble Co, OH. They moved to Wayne or Henry Co, IN before 1859. I have not been able to discover a relationship to Bakers/Beckers in Darke Co. Fanny is related to the Bakers in Henry Co, IN. Some of them moved on to Great Bend, Barton, KS

    3. Carol, Try the following url:http://www.mrl.lib.in.us/. This is a link to the local library in Richmond. Once you get to their homepage, click on WebPac. Next go to the newspaper index and look up your surnames. Copy down the citations. Next go back to their homepage and cliclk on "ask a librarian". Ask the librarian to look up your obituaries (give her/him your citation). The librarian will send them to you in an attached e-mail. Let me know if this works. 3. I called the library and they will send up to 10 copies. Their number is (765) 966-8291. Here is a link to a list of records that they have: http://www.mrl.lib.in.us/webpacj/webclient.html Click on Newspaper Index on the left hand side. You then enter the name that you are searching for. You'll get a list back. From there you can click on the print button to give you a printable page. The printable page can also be copied onto a list using ctrl-a, ctrl-c then ctrl-v in the place where you want it pasted. Good Luck. I am researching these Coffins in Wayne Co.and am happy to add their names to the list. This seems to be who I think I have found at this point. John COFFIN (b. 1778 in North Carolina) and his wife Abigail HOBBS Coffin (b. 1786 in North Carolina) are buried in Nettle Creek Cemetery, Wayne Co. They were Quakers and are in the Springfield, Wayne Co., Indiana Monthly Meeting Records. Their son John COFFIN (b. 1824 in North Carolina) and his wife Martha Delphina FENTRESS also are in the Springfield Records. They came from North Carolina as well. They moved from Indiana to Kansas and then Iowa. Apparently three of their children, Louisa Jane COFFIN, Abigail Sophrona COFFIN and Thomas Newton COFFIN were born in Indiana. I believe Thomas married ELiza STARBUCK. I welcome correspondence, corrections and will share what I have with others. Thanks, Elizabeth Coffin
